You couldn't be more wrong Dragon Age is in every way the superior game though ME2 does look like it might be quite a lot better than the original. Ok, I'll give Mass Effect points for more interesting genre and setting. Too bad they didn't utilize it well in the first game.

I finally start playing the first one, I'm at the beginning ... and I'm loving it
If you have it on PC, lookup the inventory expansion hack, change your inventory from about 100 to about 400, worked for me, no slowdown or anything. For ME2 they've improved the inventory and selling system, and also basically completely reworked how bullet mods work, allowing you to change them mid-combat as a point of strategy. You can see this being done in the recent gameplay vids that got released. Sadly, seems to be no way to fix the elevator load times, though that's addressed in ME2 as well. At least there were some clever lines and uncomfortable silences when the news got read over the wire during elevator rides.

People are still complaining about the graphics of Dragon Age? I don't understand these comments at all.
I bought the PC version. I have a computer that's about two years old, with an 8800GT, on a 25.5" Widescreen, 1900x1200 resolution with all the graphics turned to very high. The game looks awesome! Even on my two year old computer, I never have any slowdowns. Every single room, every single town, and every outdoor environment just feels "lived in", with no stupid stacked crates to take up space in a room (see every other developer....ever), the cities are gorgeous, with little details everywhere.
Are the consoles THAT much different? Also, while I loved Mass Effect, Dragon Age is a completely different game, so why are we comparing space-operas to fantasy RPGs? Both are great in their own right.

7/The blood is very forced and really takes me out of the game during cut scenes (cut scenes where my Hero suddenly no longer has a hat on, but it immediately re-appears when out of the cut scene/dialog scene) how come my mage who is rarely in combat is as bloody as the warriors who enter melee combat?
8/Wizard hats ARGHHHH damn people its like someone watched a weeks worth of Saturday night live coneheads videos before they designed them. Please add a way to turn off helm/hat graphics.
9/World geometry... its like playing Guild Wars "look another 2 inch tall hill your hero cant walk up or down and have to go around". Oh cool this 2 feet deep stream I can cross, but that mud puddle is blocking my progresss?
10/Party AI is horrible! Spoiler alert At the top of the tower where you fight the Ogre, while the King and the grey warden die in the battlefield, my NPC's were next to useless! I made a mage, and the Ogre kept running after me so I would have to run it off. While I was running it off and waiting for my heal to refresh the 3 NPCs just stood there in the middle of the room doing nothing. Only way I won was by useing Lifetap and Corpse Bomb while running like a madman!
11/If it wasn't for the compelling story, obviously the only part they didn't b-team on, I would have stopped playing already.
Seriously this game was either rushed or B-teamed I cannot fathom any other conclusion.

- The screenshots I've seen all seemed to have a very washed out look, like the color depth was very low--looking like it could desperately use some HDR lighting or something. Basically the complete opposite of games like Splinter Cell or Crysis2 which have rich palettes full of vibrant color, and also dark blacks where needed.
See Grumsh's comment above, much more detail than my comment, but it's something that I picked up on the exact same thing just with a cursory review of screenshots and movies.
