Death Rally Released for Free

I was going to post this news yesterday, but Remedy's website was getting hammered and you wouldn't be able to download it. They've decided to make their 1996 game Death Rally available to all for free. Now that the demand has died down, you should go over there and download one of the most entertaining top down racers ever made.

Quote:
In late 1996 this top-down racing game took all by surprise with it's addictive nature and excellent gameplay.

In 2009, Remedy is proud to announce the free re-release, Death Rally for Windows. The original game, ported to run on modern PCs.

The basic idea behind Death Rally: win races, gather more money, buy upgrades to your vehicle. In between wreck your opponents, shoot your way through bystanders and keep the pedal to the metal!

Holy crap that's awesome! If they had a US address I'd send them a 6-pack.

Sure, I'd grab it if I hadn't already bought it back in the day. Man, that game was awesome.

I'm grabbing this as soon as I'm home.

And for the record, DeathRace 2000 was a million times better than the recent Death Race re-make.

This is the game I learned to curse from, and it's one of the first games I ever played with other humans.

The fact that Duke Nukem is a racer in it is just icing on the cake.

Loved this game back in the day. It was the first arcade-style racer I ever played on PC with modem support. Although I have to admit, it took me FOR-EVER to beat the last boss race. I think that was the closest I've ever come to crying tears of anger.

This is why PC gaming will never totally go away. There are too many of us that have too much fun with stuff like this.

This is great news. DeathRally is a great little racing game, certainly in multiplayer
