Also posted on Edge Online is word that eco-friendly nut-job group Greenpeace has given Nintendo a score of less than one on their eco-friendly scale, due to Nintendo ignoring the environmental group.

“We’re in continuous dialogue with all the companies we speak to,” she said, “apart from Nintendo. I’ve never been able to get an answer from them aside from a couple of marketing people in the UK who have been trying to forward the messages to global headquarters in Japan, but we get no response from Nintendo. The company has an incredibly poor standard of communication regarding this issue.”
Greenpeace’s newest report [pdf] criticises Nintendo for the same level of secrecy, giving the Kyoto firm no scores in the areas where information could not be obtained.
“Nintendo remains in last place with a pitiful 0.8 points out of 10, scoring zero on all e-waste criteria,” said the report. “The company has banned phthalates and is monitoring use of antimony and beryllium, and although it is endeavouring to eliminate the use of PVC, it has not set a timeline for its phase out.”
Nintendo gets points in my book for ignoring these morons.

True true. The only other Eco group that I think is worse is Peta. The founder of Greenpeace left the organization because it became anti capitalism instead of pro environment.
I'm not big on all the ridiculous hyperbole and hypocritical talk, lacking any substantive action, on the part of many environmental groups and individual advocates. I especially get a kick out of global warming alarmists who have multiple homes with tens of thousands of square feet. It's so damn stupid, you have to just laugh. If you think it's important, take personal steps to do something about it, rather than bitching at other people to DO FOR YOU what you are unwilling to do yourself. Idiots...
As for Nintendo, they shouldn't cave in to extortion of any kind, regardless of the "cause."
Nintendo loses points in my book for creating thousands of accessories that are only used on one game, and then abandoned or better yet, they don't release an SDK so other developers can use it.
The Greenpease hatin' is shocking and alarming to me.
You're the fourth post in this thread. That's quite an effect from three previous posts. Perhaps you should grab a seat before you faint? It's a big world out there, and a lot more than three people have issues with Greenpeace.
What's shocking is that you've got a group that's trying to improve things for the world by pointing out corporate sloppiness, waste and excess, but people have come to hate them for it. It's a strange frame of mine.
Granted Greenpeace does some extreme actions and I don't agree with everything they do. But take this instance on it's own: reporting on how environmentally responsible companies are? Where's the bad in that? I think it's great - get the info out there so people who care about voting with their dollar can make that decision. Those who don't care, can ignore the data.
In my book, Greenpeace has some shaping up to do before we take them seriously. Honestly, this is the type of document that should be released by such and organization, but all the shock tactics are over the line.
You can't break the law and then cry about corporations who slither around it. Lots of available articles, but this one seems to hit the nail on the head.

Let's get something straight... I'm about as blue-state as they come, but much of the modern American environmental movement is a joke. Basically, they exist to sue people and give lawyers money.
The only "green" organization that I know of that's worth a damn is The Nature Conservancy. They are actually out in the dirt doing work and changing the world. To hell with the rest of them...

Haha, Evil Avatar has been this way since its inception - stick around!
Granted, Greenpeace and PETA are justifiably detestable, which is unfortunate as it just gives people fuel to mock their supposed causes.
There is nothing wrong with advocating environmental awareness and protection, or animal rights and protection - it is the methods pursued by these organizations that are often questionable, at best, and as unethical and hypocritical as the causes they claim to fight against, at worst.
Nintendo keeps me inside which is very friendly to the environment. Outside I litter and start fires. Today, I'm going to dump motor oil down a sewer grate.
Why is no one criticizing Nintendo for obviously not caring about environmental concerns? I mean sure, Greenpeace is a bunch of wankers blah blah blah, but that doesn't excuse the big N from being responsible. Or would you prefer to return to your dyspeptic mutterings?
