Guild Wars Halloween Update

Anet is giving GW players a little bit of trick or treating fun by changing a couple of areas to reflect halloween and adding some useless themed items (i.e. different ways to get drunk). The best addition is the Mad King henchmen in Lion's Arch. Hope you like candy corn!

Apparently, he's supposed to show up on Halloween and slay our souls our something like that.

The GW Wiki has an informal writeup and a couple of screenies.

I could of swore I posted this to the GW forum...

Otherwise, I would have made the text a little more "newsworthy"

Anyway, I've got all four new items. Does anyone know what the ghost-in-a-box does? All the others have varying degrees of drunkeness.

When I see the sheer amount of work these guys put into their game, I feel proud to be a loyal customer. Constantly updating, tweaking graphix, adding tons of models and skins. WoW demands hundreds of dollars a year in subscriptions and doesnt add half the content this game does. A-Net wtf-qwns.

p.s. I'm using a screenshot of the moon from Draknors Forge as my desktop wallpaper.

I think if you do Shift-print screen it does the characters without the GUI. Kind of funny, I've been snapping screens as well. There's all these carved pumpkins all over the place.

The wiki doesn't mention it but there is a "halloween collector" in Ascalon City for those of you who have not reached Lion's Arch or Droknor's Forge yet.

Two things:

First, where do you get the new items?

Second, that's a nice screenie, Bushido, but if you want an unobstructed view of the moon, head to Lion's Arch.

There are these new collectors in Ascalon City, Lion's and Droks that are sitting on undead horses. They're easy trades.

Also, look out for Bruce in Lion's. He's moving.

Could mounts be in the future?

I'm sorry, but you did ask for it. You obviously don't play WoW. I own both games, and love them both, but that statement is just not true. WoW does patches on a scale of the Sorrow's Furnace update, but it does them every 1-2 months.

It also had a halloween event, which was active quite a few days before the Guild Wars one. They've added halloween quests, changed the environment of the towns, you can trick or treat various npcs, which does things from give you candy and chocolate, up to turning you into various skins and giving you strange abilities. There's also a halloween festival outside the undead area every evening.

I know not many people play WoW on these boards, but seriously, actually know what you are talking about before you start making statements out of your arse.

The GW events are pretty nice though. Not to mention you can make a lot of money farming the items required for the halloween stuff, then sell them at extortionate prices

WOW better do more. What do you think you are paying, what is it, $150-$200?, more per year for? Bushido's point remains correct, how many gaming companies not getting paid after the initial purchase put this kind of effort into their games.

Who's hating on another one? I don't see it. Usually I'm hating on Guild Wars and how it's not a MMRPG. Thanks for trying to create something out of nothing though, try a little harder next time.

What is sad, and conversely what is true, is how over protective WOW fans are that they rabidly defend their game when it's not under attack.
