Criterion has posted on their website that as of this Thursday you'll be able to download the full version of Burnout Paradise straight from the PlayStation Store.
I still need to get the game, but I'd rather have the disc myself.
Another incentive to not trade the game in : you can't!
It's sad that their post announces no price point. I seem to remember hearing $40 but the game has gone below that even for new copies these days. I won't pay $40 for a game that's over 6 months old.
I'm a big fan of this happening to future games as well. I'm glad EA is taking the step forward and being the first third party to offer a previously retail only game for download. I think more companies should do this in the future when the shelve space at retail is gone.
But it does kind of put a black eye on the Blu-ray required PR spin.
I just wish I would have liked this game more than I did. I kept comparing it to past Burnouts (every time I wanted to restart a race and couldn't) and it just didn't live up.

It's $30, they announced that back when they first said a few weeks ago that it'd be downloadable.

Before Steam, I would've agreed 100% on preferring physical media. I'm more in the 60% agreement range now...on my PC I like not having to worry about where my Dawn of War CD is when the mood hits. On the other hand, there's something very satisfying about walking out of (insert tolerable game retailer here) with your shiny new game. A physical manual is a plus too (though those have been getting fairly thin, imho).
Doing this also prevents games from becoming "rare" like how some older games are over $300 bucks on eBay. Wouldn't it be nice to download Panzeer Dragoon Saga for only $30 bucks?
If I didn't already have the game I'd be all over this. They've added so much over the past few months. I wish nearly every game was supported for a full year after it was released with "Game changing content."
What I do enjoy is the option to not have to put the game disc in the machine, if the mood hits I can just press play.
Fortunately for me, I just bought this game disc a few days ago and it's my only disc based PS3 game, so it's always going to be in the machine (at least for the next few weeks)
I am all for downloadable games though. I'm all over Steam and it's ease of use
I have the disc but would rather have the digital version. Being able to play quickly by selecting from the menu is much nicer than having to go get the disc from the game shelf. This is part of the reason I still play warhawk. Also paradise is good for short sessions. Load it up, do a race or two towards you next license then quit.
Never having downloaded anything from the PSN, I'd be a little hesitant to buy this, after learning this week you can only download a movie once, and if you need to free up space at some point, and to then download it again you need to pay again...

Movies and games are completely different. You can download the games as many times as you need. Hell, you can have most games on up to 5 consoles.
