Criterion Experimenting with Planes for Burnout Paradise
Yes, you read that right. Criterion's home page lists the majority of what they are bringing to Burnout Paradise in the coming months and what they hope to bring in the future. After the Cagney update they are hoping to add much more to please much of the Burnout Paradise community!
Quote:
And for us at Criterion – it doesn't stop with Codename: Cagney. We're continuing our "Year of Paradise".
We're already working on bikes and night-time, a brand new island off the coast of Paradise city, and more besides (we're even experimenting with planes!)
I'm starting to wish they would have delayed the game a year and put all of this in it's final product. For some who missed out, this would have become an instant buy.

Reason: Edited for clarity.
I guess it's a great idea, but, seems like the burnout formula was put aside in paradise. I'd rather have something closer to burnout 3 with closed courses and a less open world.

I *love* Paradise. It's my ultimate "I've got 30 min to kill" game. Hop on, do a few races, crash a few cars... Try the racing wheel in first person in a stunt race. Whee!

The mention of planes threw me off and made me do a double take. Seems like Burnout: Paradise is really like a testing ground for new things in the franchise.

Amen. I wish there was some way to have the game permanently on my 360.
I really should play the game online more. When I do, it's a blast trying to outdo other people with tricks while crashing into people.

Burnout 3 is literally my favorite racing game of all time, and Ive only played the demo of Paradise, I never bought it. Is this something I should remedy?
I liked the demo, I did, but I guess there was nothing there to make me wanna buy it. So should I get it? Is there a lot of fun to be had?
I still have paradise. Got a bit bored of it but decided to keep it when I heard about the patch ages back. Will get the DLC but I a bit wary of planes, I just don't see them being pulled off right.

Well I picked it up from Gamefly for 19.99 used. Looks like they are still selling the game for the 360 at that price so it would be a good time to pick it up.
Planes in Burnout? Right, that sounds like a GREAT idea. Motorcycles I can deal with, but airplanes? Criterion not only killed what I loved most about Burnout 3 and Dominator but now they're further raping the games I once loved. I know there's people out there that love Paradise but as a long time fan I feel neglected. Either that or I just wanted a remake of Burnout 3 with prettier graphics.

They're thinking about adding planes, PLANES to an open world racing game, and people are bitching that it furthers the poor direction that the game went in.
You're getting more stuff, presumably for free, and you're bitching.
Well, I'm happy they decided to keep on supporting the game with new content, even if it doesn't necessarily fit into everyone's small minded opinion of what a game should be.

... really?
I mean we got a full game a few months ago and they keep adding new reasons to go back. I far prefer this model.
This is really old news too. They've been talking about adding planes after they do Bikes for a while. It was announced before they announced it for PC.

To defend myself, I don't have the game so my bitching is obviously gonna fall on deaf ears. I'm just bitching 'cause I wanted Burnout to remain about CARS and leave the flying to Crimson Skies.
