Next Up "Guitar Hero: Metallica"

According to GameSpot, the next band-centric Guitar Hero game will have Metallica as the centerpiece.
Quote:
Now, talk of Guitar Hero: Metallica is no longer a case of wishful thinking or idle speculation--it's fact. When sifting through a SEC filing of Activision's over the weekend, Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Edward Woo--associate of the highly visible Michael Pachter--uncovered a gem when the Santa Monica, California-based publisher discussed its upcoming game slate.

"In fiscal 2009, we plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms," the company said in its report. Activision's fiscal year ends on March 31, 2009--meaning the game will likely follow the holiday release of Guitar Hero: World Tour (nee Guitar Hero 4).

The best Metallica guitar player isn't even in the band anymore.

I hear there is going to be a special pack of the Aerosmith and Metallica versions, Activision has tentatively titled it Guitar Hero: Washed Up.

Spoiler: you will play through Metallica's entire history, including the event where they were abducted by gay aliens and replaced with gothy, makeup-and-earring-wearing clones of themselves. Subsequently you will be forced to put out crappy music and talk about your feelings in band therapy.

Sorry.

I may actually get this one. No thanks for Aerosmith, but (old) Metallica is awesome!

Although, I hope this doesn't interfere with it being as Rock Band DLC

I guess this means that we won't see any future Metallica DLC in Rock Band.

It's still possible. EA may have grabbed a specific segment of their library and Activision grabbing another segment.

I would actually buy this. Im a huge Metallica fan, and this is the only GH branded Band game I would bother getting.

This is why we can't have nice things. I am not looking forward to a near future where there are 3-4 different music/band games with incompatible instruments and they are all fighting over exclusive content, but things definitely seem to be headed in that direction.

I seriously don't get the pure hatred some people have for Metallica.....is it the Napster lawsuit? I don't see this kind of hate for Dr. Dre or Madonna. Is it their later albums that got you to hate them? I don't think I know of anyone that likes every album put out by any band that's been around as long as they have. Seriously, what is it?

Their music fucking sucks when it used to be amazing. Lars is a bitch. The Napster debacle. Their backpeddling on their stance of digital distribution after causing so much damage to the sharing of music in the legal sense and yeah Sandman, the main reason is because Metallica's music fucking sucks these days.

As an addendum, realizing now that GH: Aerosmith is also having music from bands in Aerosmith's history. Thus, it wouldn't be too far fetched to have Megadeth in this game as well.

Depends on the level of Douchery Mustaine is feeling.

Violent pretty much nailed it. Although Load/Assload and St. Anky sealed the deal, they were on a slide since the Black album from their previous position as THE speed metal band to beat. That and their "makeover" I mentioned along with their elitist attitude towards their own fans- well they basically asked for it.
