Rock Band Version of Motley Crue Song Outsells iTunes Version 5:1
We all know that music titles like Rock Band and Guitar Hero have opened up a whole new avenue in music sales, but we're just starting understand just how big they can get.
Last month Motley Crue announced that they would be making the first track off of their upcoming album, Saints of Los Angeles, available for digital download via stores like iTunes and Amazon as well as through Rock Band. According to Reuters the first week the track was available it sold 10,000 copies as a digital download. During that same period it sold 47,000 copies through Rock Band just on the Xbox 360 (numbers for PS3 versions of the song are unavailable)
Very intresting... it would be intresting if you could buy the track on these type of games and say get a code that lets you get an mp3 of the song. Or buy a single and get a code for a game track... Linking the 2 could be a lot of fun, i don't buy singles ever but if a band i like was putting out a single that doubled up as a track for one of these games i'd be much more likely to buy it... well if i had any of those games which i don't at the moment
So...those who snagged it for Rock Band discovered how bad it sucked and never bothered to buy it in any other non-console format.
At least that was the case with me.

I was actually really tempted to grab this on rock band, it didn't sound too bad, and I have no experience with MC's "sound" to know if it's a change or not from their previous work.

To me, it sounds more like their glory days circa Doctor Feelgood, aka the high moment of hair metal.

Maybe it is because people who buy it on iTunes actually want to listen to it (which means its good) vs. playing it. I enjoy playing songs on Rock Band that I actually would never buy to simply listen to.
