Well it's been an...interesting day over at Eidos and it's parent company, SCi. Earlier today it was announced that Warner Bros. Interactive would be pumping $170 million into SCi. This money would help keep the struggling publisher afloat, while giving Warner access to SCi's North American distribution chain, something the entertainment giant has been looking to acquire for some time now.
Then this evening the other shoe dropped, when Eidos promptly laid off their entire marketing, public relations and sales departments, apparently at Warners' request. (and this comes after similar large layoffs two months ago)
And they had just started to get their house in order when it comes to the quality of their games...

Well they're not dropping the creative types, just the marketing side of the isle, of which I'm sure WB has a ton already.
Yeah, but new corporate overlords are rarely a good thing.

Warner Brothers aren't that bad though.
It's not like Edios's marketing team was the greatest hype machine.
I mean the only thing I can see bad about this, is if WB wanted them to start making Looney Tomb Raider. However they could turn the awesome Supernatural into a game. I can't be the only one who has thought about it. I see a game in everything I see. ^_^

Ouch. Having worked with some of those folks personally, I wish them the best.
I'm sure WB gave them dibs at some spot they had.

'Edios', guys. Hope you land on your feet.
I...I'm going to hell for that one.

Oh, and take this as a warning, Eidos... if you still don't start an LoK game within the next year, it'll be CURTAINS!
They got money and the only people fired don't work on the actual games. What are you talking about?

Yeah don't hold your breathe. Nobody is pumping $170 million into the shit hole. They'll make DE 3 any way they see fit, probably "next gen" consoles, cause they love that term. Making money and shitting on your dreams at the same time.

The only thing 'd be concerned about right now would be if WB reigned in the Batman license before Lego Batman comes out.
Now that they have a dev house, they can develop their internal IP's inhouse.

You realize that Warner Bros is not only publishing Lego Batman, but that they also own Travellers Tales (the game's developer), right?
