Lair Gets Analog Control

From the Too Little Too Late department (also IGN):
Quote:
Sony Japan provided first details today on a free update for Lair, and included in the bullet points is the option for analog controls!

The update will also offer the ability to show a targeting icon, and Dual Shock 3 rumble support.

Sony is making a few additional downloads available for the game as well. Lair owners will be able to download the Wind Dragon and Poison Dragon for use in all stages.
Anybody care?

Because I:

A) Heard only horror stories about the controls and
B) Hate the SIXAXIS with a passion

I had avoided this game like the plague. Now that both those things are being taken care of I actually do care.

This thread is just for me! Wee!

YES!!! I do care. I really wanted to play lair but I knew there was no way I could handle the motion sensor controls. Yeah, I suck that bad with em... Anyone want to sell me a copy of Lair?

A quick eBay search seems to indicate that it can be had for ~$15. That may be worth a shot.

The motion controls were horrible, but still, I'm not so sure that's the reason I didn't like it. It's just not a good game.

But I still think I'll try it out again after this update.

Never figured out why the game didn't have this type of control as an option in the first place.

As a famous blog says "White people like complicated things"

I was really looking forward to this game until I heard about the controls... might be time to look into getting it.

You can buy Lair used at GameStop. You have a week to try the game out. If you don't like it, return it for a full refund. Last time I was in a GameStop, they had a huge stack of Lair copies. From what I read though, the game has a whole host of other issues that prevent it from being great though.

Well, yeah, but then you have to actually buy something from Gamestop. And you'll probably pay $40 for it. I'd rather spend the $5 and run down to Blockbuster and rent it if I wanted the low risk option.

Smack yourself with the "DUH" stick.

Buy from GameStop @ $40
Play for up to 7 days
Return for a full refund!

You get the full game
You get your money back
Total cost to you = $0.00
GameStop gets nothing

What is "HIGH RISK" about that?

Eh, maybe I've just got too much of a conscience to do that. It would just feel like stealing.

Well, if you'd set foot in the store, you'd hear all the sales associates tell you (and everyone else around you) about the policy. They encourage it, so I take advantage of it.

Now, if you were making copies of the game, then I could understand how it may feel like stealing. But this is their store policy.

Nah, I know, and it'd be my loss for not doing it.

Count me in to the group of people who stayed away because of the control issue. I might pick this up one day. If nothing else, it was a pretty game.

I've heard that the controls were far from the only issue with this game...

So glad to see Kamalot back...even if it's less than before...I just miss the back and forth of Kamalot to Gorvi and back again...like Abbot and Costello...i mean that in a good way guys .

Thanks Gorvi for the ebay tip. I might try there. Kam, I would do that with Gamestop but i would likely forget to bring the game BACK...
