Activision Offering Refund for Wii Version of Guitar Hero III

Straight from the horse's mouth comes news that Activision is now offering a refund to those who bought the Wii version of Guitar Hero III and were upset about the mono audio issue.

We are committed to providing our customers with quality game experiences and apologize for any audio output issues you may have experienced with the Wii version of Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock. Activision has worked with Nintendo to re-master the game and provide a replacement disc to consumers with Dolby digital surround sound and other consumers experiencing audio issues. If you wish to receive a full refund on your purchase price instead of a replacement disc, please click here and download the refund form, which outlines our refund requirements.

However, if you wish to receive a replacement disc for the Wii version of Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock instead of a refund, please click here.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued support and patience.

how do you get a refund if you're canadian?

the refund will be in what form of money? an international money order? we can't cash american money orders here.

what about shipping. from Canada it will be more... questions questions.

i checked the website and there is only an option for "N. American" and within that only "USA". anyone have any info?

Of course you can cash a US money order; any bank will do it.

It's cool of them to make amends.
I think if more game developers gave refunds every time they missed a somewhat obvious flaw, maybe, just maybe, more of them would make sure those things are addressed properly before a release.

The fact that it's a sound problem in a game based largely on the sound, I do wonder how they missed that.

Wow, that's pretty awesome on Activision's part. I have it for 360, so this doesn't really affect me, but it's good news for anyone who felt ripped off.

I'm so bad at identifying stereo sound that I still haven't gotten around to ordering a replacement disc. I better get on that now though, before they stop doing this.

I would guess the refund was in response to legal action and not them being cool :P

i'm thinking of money orders, i've done a lot of Ebay-ing with Americans, and i know there are two types of money orders... international from american post offices and american ones.... i think the american ones are pink and the international ones are green.

I don't know... It seems like they're trying to take the easy way out. They don't even say what's wrong and it seems like they're trying to avoid a class-action suit. Seriously, how could you miss a game not even having stereo output? It seems like a battle of the wool and the pulling over of some people's eyes...
