I'd be interested in seeing how the quality of this stacks up against a regular HDMI-equipped Xbox 360.
I wonder what the connector looks like to the 360? I'd imagine it looks like a component connection that can do 1080p(and every lower resolution) and the adapter does the conversion/handshaking.
I'd be most curious to know if the HD-DVD add on would output at 1080p, or if DVDs would upconvert to 1080p.
edit: No audio out via HDMI? Kinda sad there, but not a great loss.
I think it does. On the site it says " The optical audio port provides an alternative setup solution and everything you need to get full HD output from your Xbox 360 is right inside the box." Presumably alternative means that the original is with the hdmi.

I just got a new tv and as much as I would love to get this and hook it up I just dont have faith that the brand and product would live up to what it is saying. maybe if Microsoft was making it then I would give it a shot but yeah thats just me.
The guys over at AVSforum got their hands on this a while ago. In short, it is a gigantic piece of crap. It is a simple component to HDMI transcoder, carrying with it all the problems inherent in that setup, DVDs are still limited to 480p, etc. There is a pretty good chance that your TV does a better ADC conversion than this thing, making component hookup to the TV cleaner.
The couple far better options than this thing:
1) Sell your old 360 for $180 and buy a new Arcade version to get HDMI. Same $100 price.
2) Use component.
3) Use VGA.
In short, this useless garbage has no place being promoted on the front page of EvEv.
If your display doesn't suck ass, DVI/HDMI > VGA/Component
In other words, Digital > Analog.
Not always since you run into more retarded DRM crap when running digital... hence the reason you can't use a HDMI-DVI cable with the PS3 and an non HDCP monitor.

Is there really that much of a difference? I run VGA from my 360 and DVI from my PS3. I can't really see the difference. It should be noted that I use 1360*768 resolution on my 360, so it's closer to the tv's native resolution.
