Word from Disney today is that next week we'll be getting "Discs Of Tron" on Xbox Live Arcade.

Discs of Tron, which received an 8.0 out of 10 review score from Official Xbox Magazine (U.S.), includes multiplayer modes: Classic Versus (highest score wins), Speed Versus (player to reach determined score first wins), Co-op (two players’ scores combined for leader board results) and Deadly Disc Versus (players play simultaneously and power-ups help one player or hinder another).
The enhanced mode features high-definition graphics that show the three-dimensional arena surrounded by a cityscape from the world of Tron. The game’s audio is also upgraded in the enhanced mode.
Disney Interactive Studios Announces Classic Game Will Be Available Through Xbox LIVE Arcade on February 13
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ground-breaking film “Tron,” about a man who ventures inside a video game and has to battle for survival, spawned two classic arcade games in the early 1980s. Disney Interactive Studios today announced Discs of Tron, the second arcade game inspired by the film, will be available on February 13 for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
In Discs of Tron, players face off in a three-dimensional arena against the film’s villain, Sark, as they throw discs to try to knock him off of a platform or “derezz” him with a disc while he counters. The game, which includes both classic and enhanced modes, gets increasingly more difficult as players progress. A player’s advancement through the game includes multiple platforms of different altitudes, a barricade between the two combatants and chasers, which are secondary weapons from Sark. The player’s deflector can provide necessary temporary protection from Sark’s onslaught of discs.

“Discs of Tron is considered an arcade classic as it mesmerized fans who wanted an entertaining and challenging experience derived from the innovative film,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “The game’s release on Xbox LIVE Arcade enables multiple generations to play the addictive game in both its original form from 25 years ago and an enhanced mode with upgraded graphics and sound.”
The enhanced mode features high-definition graphics that show the three-dimensional arena surrounded by a cityscape from the world of Tron. The game’s audio is also upgraded in the enhanced mode.
From Disney Interactive Studios and developed by Backbone Entertainment, Discs of Tron is rated E for Everyone by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
The original Tron arcade game, which is comprised of four mini-games inspired by the film and features an enhanced mode and multiplayer challenges, is now available on Xbox LIVE Arcade.
About the Tron Franchise
“Tron,” a 1982 Walt Disney Pictures’ release, explores the worlds of video games and three-dimensional computer-generated animation. When Flynn hacks into the mainframe of his ex-employer to prove his work was stolen by another executive, he finds himself on a much bigger adventure. Beamed inside by a power-hungry Master Control Program, he joins computer gladiators on a deadly game grid, complete with high-velocity "Light Cycles" and Tron, a specialized security program. Together they fight the ultimate battle with the MCP to decide the fate of both the electronic world and the real world.
Since the Tron and Discs of Tron arcade games, Tron has continued to make the logical transition to video games. Disney Interactive Studios published Tron 2.0 for Windows-based PCs in 2003 and Tron 2.0: Killer App in 2004 for the Xbox™ video game system and the Game Boy® Advance. Tron was also among the featured Disney worlds in KINGDOM HEARTS II, the top-selling role playing game from Square Enix Co., Ltd. and Disney Interactive Studios. KINGDOM HEARTS II is available for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.
They totally blew it with the TRON release. The spinner (right analog) was way to slow to emulate the arcade version, so hopefully this time they will speed up the rotation, because DoT with a slow spinner will be an exercise in frustration and futility.
Weak sauce. Weak sauce, weak sauce, weak sauce!! They are totally out of ideas for XBLA already it seems. The only innovation in downloable games is coming from PSN. No, I'm not biased, I own over 40 XBLA games and only perhaps 5 PSN ones.
I imagine it'll be a two-fer this week. This came from Disney, not MS, so another title could still be forthcoming for the 13th.
Let's hope. It seems Live Arcade has been a pretty popular platform, but the releases are still struggling. We we are lucky we get on average maybe one great game every month and a bunch of fillers and excuses in the meantime. January started off great with Metal Slug and Rez. But looks like are back to the same now.

I sense irony here...
I think there are a bunch of great games on XBLA (you did, after all, buy 40, right? Do you really think the well is now dry? Really?). I don't need a new "hit" each and every week. Besides, determining which games are weak and which are a "hit" is pretty subjective.
This game is weak, imo...but others might like it.
I was lucky enough to play in the *big* cabinet. Circus Circus had one when I was little. I wasted sooo many quarters in that wonderous machine.
Funny thing though, I didn't stand, I sat in it. There was a little bump on the area where the cabinet became the backing glass, and since I was small and wiry back then, I could sit there, put my feet on the coin slots, and balance with my arms out to work the controls.

I agree. I wanted to buy Tron. Glad I played the trial first because the controls suck big time.
