I just now got word from Infinity Ward that a new patch has been released for the simply tremendous Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This brings it up to version 1.5 and includes the following fixes:
Quote:
CHANGES:
* Fixed server browser not showing all of the servers
* The "hold [ ] to steady" sniper scope hint will only appear if you can use it
* Fixed game not recognizing IWDs existing if they are all in fs_basepath and none are in the main/ folder
* Made mod scripts able to change stats
* Allow developer_script for mulitiplayer modding
* Fixed map rotation errors with usermaps
* Fix for reloading several times after connecting to a modded server
* Fixed minimap not showing up in the menu for usermaps
* Fixed an issue with Http redirect downloads.
* Mod tools will now work with other languages
NOTE: patch 1.5 is not compatible with 1.4. You will not be able to find 1.4 servers if you update.
NOTE: Please ensure you have previously downloaded 1.4 patch before downloading 1.5 as you will need the 'Winter Crash' map from 1.4.
Maybe I'm being needlessly stupid, but don't the notes in the italicized portion of the above contradict themselves?
I think they mean that 1.5 players can't connect to 1.4 servers. You of course would need 1.4 before you upgrade to 1.5 though.

Sweet. Steam auto updates the game, so I don't have to worry about downloading it.
I wish steam became the standard for friends and online playing. If you set it up to run your non-steam games, you will be able to access the community tab (shift+tab) just like you do with the 360's dashboard.
I wonder if xfire does that... I need to check that out.
* Fixed server browser not showing all of the servers
Jesus, it's about time. I'll have to hop on and see how well this is working. It was rare for me to find servers below 100 ping before, they seemed to play just fine but it was a little odd. When a local server did manage to pop up it was pinging as it should (<50ms) so I don't think it was my connection.
Lag seems terrible in every Xbox Live game. It's the p2p networking. No patch will fix it. For consistent low ping games, you need dedicated servers.
You're wrong. The 360 version does NOT lag unless you have a shitty router/connection. It rarely lags for me, and I know other people rarely have trouble too.
So yeah, you're wrong. Don't be a PC elitist prick.
