The game that everybody loves to hate is coming to a 360 in the future. The Mercury News has the scoop.

But I talked with someone who saw code for Jade Empire 2. It’s coming for the Xbox 360, and it’s real. It’s not much as far as scoops go, but I’m on vacation. What do you expect? Happy New Year.Jade Empire was BioWare’s second big game for the Xbox, following the exclusive Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic title in 2003.
following the exclusive Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic title in 2003. It will be interesting to see if Jade Empire 2 will remain an exclusive for the Xbox 360
The first game was awesome. The choices at the end of the game really gave you the option of being a real evil...err close fisted bastard. You have to admire Bioware for creating a game that combines Kung-Fu (with all it's cheesiness) and RPGs.
Gorvi, if you didn't like Kotor then you probably won't like Jade Empire. The major difference between the two (besides settings) is the real time combat. They both have the good and evil paths, multiple companions, similar inventory system (from what I remember), and strong story lines.
I know it's en vogue amongst the lobotomized masses of internet forums to hate on Jade Empire with unbridled passion (NeoGaf, I'm looking at you) but I really liked Jade Empire.
It wasn't a classic like KoTOR, but it was really good. I'm looking forward to this sequel.
I never played the original, but then again, I didn't like KOTOR. Do they play all that differently?
The combat mechanics in Jade Empire were very different from KoTOR, but the basic RPG stuff was very BioWare. If you didn't really dig on KoTOR, I'd call it a long shot for you to like JE.
As flawed as it was, I liked JE a lot. Then again, I'm a sucker for pseudo-asian mythology.
The first was money well spent. I'll definitely be watching out for the sequel if there is one.
Hopefully they can keep the streamlined inventory/stat system unchanged or even improve on it's unobtrusiveness, while somehow making the combat more rewarding.
I loved Jade Empire, especially your crazy inventor friend.
I don't get the hate it receives and am happy to see a sequel possibly be developed, if only to have an RPG set somewhere outside of space or western fantasy conventions.

So this is assuming that Bioware is doing the sequel, correct? I ask because they didn't do the sequel to KOTOR and was wondering how it would be possible for them to do both Jade Empire 2 and Mass Effect 2 at the same time. They'd need a HUMONGOUS company in terms of personnel in order to pull that off, and frankly I don't think Jade Empire sold all that great in comparison to how Mass Effect has been selling. I guess it might be possible now that they have the EA cash backing them up.
The load times, in the arena fighting. Good god. I really hope they fix the load times.
Meh. They're not that bad. Maybe I'm just more patient than most of the people around here or something, but this is like the load times on the elevators in Mass Effect. They're there, they're occasionally a bit long but if everyone wasn't bitching about them, I probably wouldn't have noticed them.
It's like people who were whining about having to sit through a '5-minute cutscene' at the beginning of the Burnout Demo. I fired it up again last night to see how long it was and it's got to be about 30 seconds, tops. OH NOES!
Sheesh. If the fact that there were some load times is your biggest complaint about a game, then it's probably a pretty good game despite your impatience.
