They're Making a Tekken Movie?!?

The bad news: Hollywood is making a Tekken movie. Following in the grand tradition of only making movies out of games with stories that are either non-existent (Dungeon Siege) or ridiculously convoluted (Final Fantasy).

The good news: The director, Dwight Little, is responsible for Steven Seagal's magnum opus, Marked for Death

The movie is apprently going to begin filming on Feb 4th with a plot described as:
Quote:
a rebel who rises up against the Tekken Corp. to seize freedom for his people
I can't wait.

Seriously, what's next? How about a Bejeweled movie? Maybe Blinx: The Motion Picture?

The good news is, the writers strike will not slow down production of this movie because they rarely use real writers for game-based movies anyway.

I'll take a movie based on Tekken over one based on The Sims any day of the week. Unfortunately (unless there's been some update to the old story), both seem to be headed our way.

This is good news to you? Seriously. This movie cant be good. The only fighting game to ever have even a SEMI-INTERESTING back story was Mortal Kombat, and Hollywood already shit that out.

Hollywood has NO respect for game property.

Whatever makes them more $$$

I bet they could show an hour and a half of http://dojo.fi/~rancid/loituma__.swf and make 30 million dollars. They could advertise it as the best action adventure movie of 2008!

100% agreed.

Street Fighter, DOOM, and DOA were also terrible.

The Resident Evil movies would be bad *IF* Milla wasn't so hot.

Silent Hill I thought was good, but I know a lot of peeps disagree with me on that one.

Well, I mean, to be fair. Games that coincide with movie releases usually suck bigtime. So I guess the two industries are about even.

If they use the game engine from the first Tekken to make it, I'm there.

If it's not live action and if it's CGI and kinda looks like the game it could be good. I'd rather be optimistic at this point then pessimistic to see if they pull any rabbits out of their hats..

Isn't that Spyhunter movie with the Rock coming out soon too?
