IGN just recently announced that Nyko will be releasing a Wireless Nunchuck for the Nintendo Wii.
Quote:
Nyko's Wireless Nunchuck will employ 2.4-GHz wireless to communicate with a receiver module that jacks into the Wiimote's usual Nunchuck port. As the pictures suggest, power buttons on both the receiver and Wireless Nunchuck will turn the connection on and off.
Maybe it'll eat batteries, so you'll have to use a Nyko battery charging kit.
I dig wireless, but only if it uses a rechargeable battery with a charger, and no rubberized grips. I'm using this cool dual-charging stand that I got for $20 at Walmart.
The wire doesn't bother me at all... and I don't entirely trust third party hardware, even if I do own their charging kit. I've never used a third party controller, and enjoyed it. Ever. Not even those wireless Logitech controllers for PS2/Xbox, and I'm a big Logitech fan (for their mice/speakers).
I agree its very iffy using 3rd party for anything. The WII mote is a very advanced wireless controller the only reason I can understand the nunchuck NOT being wireless is because too many nunchucks would get thrown during wii boxing.
This goes right up there with the wireless 360 headset: it removes a wire that I really don't mind.
Removing the wire on the headset is one thing; having your head tethered to your controller is kind of awkward.
The Wiimote-nunchuck combo, however, is far from awkward. I can comfortably rest both of my hands on either side of my lap while using the Wii controller; the wire is the perfect length, really. Breaking up the controller the way they did opened up entire realms of slouching possibilities while playing games!
I'm sure some people will eat this up, but I've spent more than enough money already on batteries...I don't want to buy a peripheral that will do nothing but force me to buy fresh batteries on an even more frequent basis.

Just saw someone in a fur coat walking a dog. "I love to take care of animals AND wear them!" If only they were holding a burger.

I find that I actually cross my wrists, supplying support...its odd, but I love it. Probably wont do that for Metroid...but for Zelda it's how I played.
I got them from www.nyko.com. They are having a presale on them for limited colors
Thanks for the tip. Those are a bit more expensive than I thought they would be, but I guess it's only the special edition colors that are available so far. I'd like to get one of the black nunchucks, but I'm not sure I can justify spending $35+shipping to get one.
