Xbox 360 Fall Update to include... a parental timer?

A post on MaxConsole provides a picture from a pamphlet that gives some information about one of the new features to come along in the Xbox 360 fall update: the "Family Timer".

Quote:
Family Timer, a simple tool that lets you manage how much time your kids spend on their Xbox 360, manage time in daily or weekly periods, and available in December 2007 only though Live.
No way! If my mom gets a hold of this, how'm I supposed to play Guitar Hero III enough to get all of those achievements?

More like the significant other timer. This may save marriages. Or ruin some...

Ha.
That's a pretty nice feature, actually. Of course I won't use it, but I'd imagine there are plenty who would.

Good step towards starting to promote the 360 as a family system... Now they just need alot more kid games than the Wii.

Will probably be the hardest setting to find and how will parents know about it (those of us who are gamer-dads will, but take mom and pop off the street)?

I don't foresee this being an obstacle to kids. Most parents will need their kids help to set this up in the first place.

while I agree that's probably true, I think there are a lot more gamer-parents with each passing generation, and so at least with the parents who bought the 360 partially for themselves, it might be effective to limit their child's usage

Does anyone know if this will be linked to say a specific Gamer Profile? Because if it is... I'm going to have one very upset brother when it stops him from playing *insert devilish grin*

I like this, because I like just about anything that allow for more choices and/or options for parents. At the very least, it puts the onus on parents not to complain about the time their kids spend on the system (which they should already monitor anyways) by providing a clear method of monitoring this time beyond just looking at a watch...which, I'm sure, is tough for some parents to do! Watches have numbers and that would require math, after all!

Good thing.

Edit: I wonder if this will have any additions to BC...

Man, I was just about to post exactly the same thing.

My wife was just asking me a few weeks ago if the 360 had a feature where she could limit the number of hours a day I play.

Not good, maybe good, I can't decide.

I could see my mum using this. I could also see myself finding a way around it.

Nah, it's a requirement that for every 360 thread you HAVE to have a RROD comment in the first five posts.

It's part of the SDF pledge.

The Wii's already got one of these, correct? I know the Game Boy Player had one, but of course it was just an accessory, so there was nothing to stop a child from just switching to a GC game after the time ran out.

Did it happen to mention anything else that will be coming along with this update? I would love to have a larger friends list among other things, and the clan support.
