Halo 3, bestselling game in Japan last week

Despite Xbox 360's general failure in Japan, Halo 3 has outsold all other games from September 24th to September 30th. Here is the Japanese software sales chart:

Quote:
[Platform] Game - This week’s sales/ Overall sales

1. [360] Halo 3 - 59,000 / NEW
2. [DS] Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Toki - 55,000 / 440,000
3. [PSP] Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII - 54,000 / 649,000
4. [DS] Tamagotchi Petit Petit Omisecchi Minasankyu! - 54,000 / NEW
5. [DS] Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Yami - 46,000 / 389,000
6. [PS2] Bleach Blade Battlers 2nd - 31,000 / NEW
7. [DS] English Test 2 - 28,000 / NEW
8. [PSP] Yugioh Duel Monsters GX - 28,000 / NEW
9. [PS3] Oblivion - 27,000 / NEW
10. [PSP] Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops+ - 25,000 / 119,000
No one can resists the power of Halo. Not even the Japanese.

And Halo 3 outsold Final Fantasy VII too!

Don't matter that both have been out for a while. ;-P

Not only that, but the console sales actually broke out to 5.8k this week. That's like 4 weeks in 1 compared to their normal sales!

Dear god. Halo 3 beat out a Tamagotchi game and a Yugioh one in Japan all new releases. This is madness.

It's a bit of a misnomer, though. If you add up the two versions of that Pokemon game, it sold almost double Halo 3. And the Pokemon game has been out for what, months probably?

A friend and I were playing last night in co-op and he kept saying, "Gawd This game is so cool! This is Madness!"

I'm a realist, I never expect Japan to make an American console #1. But it is kind of heartwarming to see some of their gamers appreciate our titles as well.

Is this the thread where we try to come up with our favorite bad word phrase?

Halo 3 is putting up incredible sales numbers. Congrats to Bungie. Can Halo 3 ever be topped?

As slow as the week was, that is still extremely impressive numbers for an american FPS in Japan. I've heard the translation / Japanese voice recording was actually really well done though.

Has anyone seen any Japanese Halo ads? they must have had a pretty good marketing push to get those numbers.

Ok, so Halo 3 sold roughly half the number of a year old Pokemon game. Nevermind, nothing to see here.
