Here are 10 things you may or may not know about Halo Wars for the Xbox 360. We also have an audio transcript of the closed door session with Ensemble Studios.
10. The game takes place before the events of Halo 1
9. Resource Gathering is minimal. Focus is on combat.
8. All cut scenes are done in engine.
7. The engine is written from the ground up by Ensemble and looks absolutely gorgeous.
6. The needler is the Halo 3 needler, not the Halo 2 one. (from what I've seen)
5. The control scheme was literally written from the ground up for an Xbox 360 controller.
4. The music isn't going to be composed by Marty O'Donnell
3. There are a ton of a little touches that help build out the world. The world is full of life and random activities.
2. The game will have Spartans.
1. The game will feature online Co-Op!
Here is an audio demo of the game with Lead Designer Graham Devine of Ensemble Studios: E3 2007 Audio of Halo Wars
You can listen to the streaming version right here.
Is the graphic really gorgeous? Saw some trailer online and it looks like c&C 3 halo wars...
Thats a matter of opinion, and don't forget we only saw one map which was a bit deserty. They will not have revealed everything about the game
which was made by the people who did age of empires, all of which are visually impressive.
And what was wrong with C&C3's graphics anyway? I thought they were quite good. Not to mention Halo Wars IS an RTS, really what do people expect it to look/play like? An RTS perchance?

Online co-op is great, but split-screen would have been more welcome. Mrs. Kamalot already complains that I don't game enough WITH her, and I'm not buying another 360 and a copy of Halo Wars just to get some gaming on with the Mrs.

What if she cut "something" off for the time untill you bought her one, would you be motivated then?.
Point 4 sucks pretty hard... O'Donnell's soundtracks have really enhanced the first two Halo games. In fact, they're some of the best features of the games, and sort of define the atmosphere of Halo for me. But I'll try not to judge the game before I play it.

Ensemble are the guys that did Age of Empires 1-3, right? If so, this game should be fine. Those guys know what they're doing in terms of RTS games. I just really want to know more about the combat, the units, and see how all the stuff they're going to need to invent for the Haloverse to make a quality RTS fits in with the FPS games.
And Marty O'Donnell not doing the music is kind of disappointing, but expected. He' Bungie's music guy, not the Halo music guy. He's laid enough groundwork for the series that a competent imitation could be done fairly easily, but hopefully Ensemble can build upon it all. I really did enjoy the music in AoE3.

She's the frugal one, but buying another 360, screen and game is a little extreme, even for me.
We end up playing stuff that allows us to play together. She's psyched about trying Soul Calibur Legends since it has split-screen co-op. I won't lie, playing games WITH her is a heck of a lot of fun, and often colors my purchase decisions.
