New Timesplitters Confirmed

qj.net is reporting (from a forum post at European Playstation Forums ) that the UK OPM has confirmed that a new game in the Timesplitters franchise is in development.
Quote:
Not much info were given, but Steve Ellis said, "They're 'gearing' up to insert monkeys and guns into all the wrong places." For those not in the know, Timesplitters is home to a huge variety of character skins including ginger bread men and monkeys. Floating ducks and the mythical Bigfoot are there, too, for your choosing.

Looks like the devs will be following the tradition of humor and quirks of this insanely fast paced shooter that never took itself seriously. Here's what Chris1007 said:

Interestingly the logo currently being used by Free Radical, is a spoof of the Gears of War logo with a monkey head. And Free Radical is said to have sent out some concept art of a monkey in a 'very' familiar suit of green battle armour. So expect a lot of in-game potshots at Gears of War, Halo, and other famous gaming franchises.
I don't know what it was about Timesplitters, but I really enjoyed the first two. They just had a great sense of humor and felt like arcade games at heart.

How does this fit in with Haze? Do they have two teams going?

Moved to news due to sheer monkey-gunning awesomeness.

Haze is coming out in the next month or two right?

I can see how they started pre-production on a timesplitters first.

I liked TS2 far better than TS:FP. So i wonder what model they're going to use for the next one.

Timesplitters Future Perfect was an awesome FPS. I will definitely pick this up for the X360.

I had a great time player coop with my roomate in TS:FP. The fast paced multiplayer was also surprisingly addicting. I'll be keeping my eye on this for sure.

As a huge fan of TimeSplitters, I'm excited about this. I still think that TS2 was the most fun I've had in a console shooter ever.

Isn't this the game that had the spring-loaded aiming system? If you let go of the right stick, your reticle would spring back to the center of the screen. I hope this game doesn't have the same thing. That was horrible.

I always enjoyed the series. It always got better with each game. However, the A.I. was rock stupid in the last one, so I hope they fix that.

I have only one wish: That its huge-potential for fun online doesn't get blown up before it's even fired off because of EA's wretched online. TimeSplitters deserves some online goodness.
