The popular Sid Meier series is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 in the form of Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution. The empire building game has sold over 8 million copies world-wide and Firaxis games will be optimising this mix of war and diplomacy for the next-gen consoles

Some of the key features that will resonate with fans of strategy games and the Civilization franchise include 16 civilizations to master and lead to victory, an array of famous historical leaders to play as or compete against, and accessible maps and streamlined time scale for quicker games, intense combat, and constant action.
Awesome. I've always been interested in his games, but being purely console gamer, I haven't played many. Pirates! on the PSP is pretty fun, so I'll definately keep an eye on this.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
damn, now I won't be getting even my dear Civ games.
I BOUGHT THE GOD DAMNED CHRONICLE BOX! I HAVE 2 COPIES OF EACH GAME!
Quicker games? No thanks, kind of negates a lot of the cool factor. But I guess if you played an actual game of Civ on a 360, it would melt into a puddle before anyone won.

I really want to see how this turns out. I'll still buy Civ games on the PC, but a quicker game on the 360 would be great, especially considering how cool Catan and Carcassone turned out.
are you sure you mean cool factor? not... geek factor?
Same thing.

I'd add something to your comment, but I've always been told not to mess with perfection.

This is the only thing that has me worried. I almost always play Civ as a diplomat, unless I am attacked first. I just hope that this doesn't take away from the incredible amount of options and make it more combat based, as I really enjoy being able to deal with conflict in the way I see fit.
This coming to DS is very good news though.

I wonder if this idea is related to the new CIV IV expansion and the 'advance start' features it is suppose to ship with. Perhaps a shorter game is going to be broken down into eras, with different goals or something,

..
In any case I am very curious how this will work.
It certainly looks like some of the ideas from BTS are making their way into this, or perhaps it's the other way around?
