Everyone seems to be blogging these days. Sony has just launched their official blog for the Playstation brand.
Quote:
At the moment, we’re thinking about sharing all sorts of things here, ranging from product news and title announcements to developer updates and industry opinion posts – all of which will come straight from the people here inside SCEA who are working, thinking and playing with this stuff everyday. Look to the categories on the sidebar for some initial thoughts we have on future post themes.
Now, what we’ve learned, perhaps the hard way, is that a blog like this is really about you and the things you want to hear, share and discuss with us. With that in mind, you’ll notice that comments are enabled – and encouraged – so tell us what you want to see here and we’ll do our best to make it happen. And yes, like most blogs, we have a comment policy, please just keep this in mind when you’re leaving a comment.
Great news. In this day in age this sort of avenue I think is essential to any corporation. Glad to see Sony jumping on board.
It took them long enough, but it's nice to finally see. Maybe this is a sign that Sony's PR is finally starting to actually get some kind of direction? They need to learn that more communication is a good thing, and this is a step in the right direction.

Glad to see that finally made it into 2005 and set up a Blog. Seriously though, this is welcome. Anything more public and less 'sneaky/shady/astro-turf' is better. Sony needs to show me they are working very hard at becoming an honest company. An open blog is a good start, unless they simply use it to distribute lies.

Fuckin' hilarious: "We have no idea what we should put here, but everybody and their mother has a blog, so we figured we'd better start one. If you have any ideas as to what we should include, please let us know, because we're clueless PR people."

Hey, they got a good start on the Honesty front, and completely confirmed something that we've all known about Sony's PR people for years... they're fucking clueless.

Service wise though they seem to be catching up. The Firmware updates to the PS3 have been pretty good, especially the DVD upscaling as well as the PS2 games.
Overall, alot of arguments could be made of "Well, they should have had this from the get go etc. " Sony has alot of problems, but at least of late, they seem to be getting an inkling of a clue.
Now we just need MS and Nintendo to do the same. MS to stop dicking over customers with their faulty fun boxes and shoddy 17th rate 19th world country customer service....
And Nintendo, to pull it's head out of it's arse about Online.

The first paragraph shows their vision (mission objective). The second paragraph is stating that their vision and our (reader) vision may not be the same vision. This is why they are asking for comments. They want suggestions as to the type of content people want (there is no point in running a blog if there is no active community).
