IGN sends word that Sega will be bringing its on-rails arcade shooter, Ghost Squad, to the Wii.
Quote:
"Ghost Squad brings the classic light gun blaster experience that SEGA made popular in the arcades to the Wii," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president of marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "With a more robust multiplayer experience than even the arcade version and numerous unlockable items and stages adding replay value, Ghost Squad will be the ultimate shooter experience for the Nintendo Wii console."
I don't know much about this game, but it definitely sounds like fun!
The game already uses technology like the Wii's to allow you light gun action on a screen you normally couldn't. If you look at the arcade machine (assuming you can find one nearby) it has 5 little LEDs in the arcade unit (hidden by little covers) and the gun has a Wii-like sensor on its tip. Same thing with House of the Dead 4 (which also has gun shaking action for reloading, another prime candidate for Wii).
Sweet. It's about time Sega realised that light gun shooters are perfect on the Wii. Now, give me a compilation of Virtua Cop 1-3, Confidential Mission, and House of the Dead 1-3 (I don't think the Wii can handle HOTD4's graphics), and I'm sold.

I love me some light gun games. Now, let's see a House of the Dead Collection for Wii with all four games. I'd definitley buy that.

Well a lot of people claim it isn't accurate enough...
Raving rabbids' on-rails shooting was awesome. With FPSs I don't think it really works because looking up/down/left/right is awkward at best, but on rails it works great.
Holy shit...I just realized what game this is. I played a ton of this at Dave and Buster's.
That is where I played it too. Fun game. I'd rather see a retro pack of Virtua Cop 1 & 2 though. Oh well anything that helps Sega get a foot in the light gun door..

I remember playing this on a Carnival Cruise trip.

I wonder if Nintendo is considering a more robust sensor configuration to make these types of games more effective. I've heard that arcades have the sensors around the monitor at least in two locations to allow for more quick and pinpoint accuracy.
This game is awesome...House of the Dead hasn't been good since 2, and Virtua Cop 3 was sad...I hope to see more games like this coming out for more systems...I would expect this to come to 360/PS3 if Namco thinks they can get TC4 working on HD systems.
