Picked up from ShackNews, it looks like some major players from the now defunct Clover Studios have built a new studio, Seeds.
Quote:
Now, it seems that three key former Clover developers have done just that with the creation of Seeds, a new company that appears not to have any permanent publisher ties. The site's introductory message, helpfully translated by Wired's Chris Kohler, introduces Seeds' three key figures, who represent a mind-boggling list of development credits: Clover CEO Atsushi Inaba, who produced all of the studio's games; designer Hideki Kamiya, who created the Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe franchises as well as directed Resident Evil 2 (PS1, N64, DC, GCN, PC) and Okami; and Shinji Mikami, who created the Resident Evil franchise as well as directed Resident Evil 4 (PS2, GCN) and God Hand (PS2).
"We are the Seeds that caused the vibrant flowers Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Steel Battalion, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami to come into bloom," reads the introduction, which goes on to state that the studio is currently actively hiring. "Now, with a renewed spirit, we want to once again challenge the world of entertainment. But to do this, we need many, many more seeds... Would you like to make some 'preposterously amazing' games with us?"
Well if their past credits are any indication, these dudes are going to putting out some awesome shit. I look forward to seeing what they come up with!

Why would Capcom let these guys go again? If Microsoft or Sony had half a brain, they'd try to snap these guys up in a heartbeat.
Yeah, Microsoft could probably buy them for pretty cheap since they haven't put anything out yet, and whatever they put out is more than likely going to be great. If they named themselves Troika 2 I'd be worried though.

Isn't that the truth?
Though I'd rather they not be tied to any one publisher. That way they could develop for an array of systems instead of being tied to one. Just go the Level 5 route and put a lot of high quality stuff on a variety of platforms.
Good talent never dies, it just undergoes a name change.
I beg to differ.
while it's fantastic news that the core of Clover will continue to work together, the fact they have to go about it in this way is tragic. Before God Hand even saw release, these guys were out of work, and are only now beginning get it back together again.
They should have been working on a great new game these past five months.

I hope they develop for everybody, but they could fill a void in the 360's lineup, I've noticed Microsoft doesn't really have anyone making any critically acclaimed "art" games for them, like Grasshopper Manufacture or Sony's Team Ico.
So what does Capcom have now? Is Keiji Inafune still there? I'm really thinking that were the "Microsoft buying Capcom" rumors true, MS wouldn't be getting a whole lot for their buck with Kamiya and Mikami gone. Think of a Capcom game you like, ok good, nine chances out of ten it was made by Akira Nishitani, Akira Yasuda, Keiji Inafune, Shinji Mikami, or Hideki Kamiya. The first two names have been gone from Capcom for years, and now they lose two more?

I think it may be good for Capcom as now it will give newer people a chance to shine. The guys who left no longer have to work on Capcom's franchises and have a chance to prove themselves.
Hopefully however, Okami isn't solely in the hands of Capcom as an IP, but rather in the hands of it's creators.
It is just messed up and utterly tragic today, when games like Okami come out, and then their development house is shut down. Remember the days of Looking Glass Studios?
~Sighs~ Gods....There should be some freaking law against killing awesome Development houses or them being bought out by the Satanic force that is EA.
