The latest issue of Famitsu contains a first report on the cables that will be included with the Japanese version of the PS3. Purchasers of either the 60 Gig or 20 Gig models will get a power cord, USB cable, ethernet cable and standard composite AV cable.
Not including a HDMI cable was a little disappointing to begin with, but this is just sad (and cheap on their part).
Edit: I forgot to mention that you can use your PS2 component cables on the PS3 if you own those already. Also for clarification purposes, the quote in the article says that this applies to Japanese PS3s. I don't know if it's likely that the US and Japanese bundles are different, we'll just have to see.
Wonder how much they'll bone us for an "official" Sony PS3 Component cable?
I suppose it is far too much to hope they're doing this because there are rgb jacks under an expansion port somewhere? Look how big the damn thing is, they could do that. Grrr.
Did the 360 Premium come with HDMI cables? I didn't think this was even an issue.
It came with component, which I assumed would be the bare minimum that would come with the PS3.
Thats what I get for not assuming the worst with Sony. Though, I guess the worst would be them not including any A/V cables at all. We should count ourselves lucky.

It came with a hybrid cable, one for traditional RCA jacks, and one for component. Component is what you use for HD when you don't have to deal with paranoid movie studios who are rapidly losing the technology race.

On the plus side, the PS3's AV Multi Out interface accepts the same cables that you used with your PS2, so if you already have S-Video, D or Component cables, you should be able to reuse them.
that's pretty sad. they go on and on about HD and trueHD and HD some more, but you can't get HD out of the box with even the premium system. but you get an ethernet cable and a usb cable. uhhh, gee thanks.
I like how the Sony execs complain about Wii being expensive once you add in the accessories (jewel-encrusted chalice), but they consider the PS3 cheap.

Yeah. How much will you need to spend in PS3 accessories?

Next-gen high-def system, "next-gen" disc media, 500-600 dollar price tag, billed as the next coming of Jesus in console form...and Sony includes no component cables? That's just plain stupid.
Nintendo is also an asshole for not including them...but the PS3? That's even worse.
It comes with an Ethernet cable so you can go online and use the online marketplace to buy a component or HDMI cable that is specially designed to work with the PS2.
