And we very much look forward to continuing that interaction, so please follow us to our official site at ShroudOfTheAvatar.com and join us in our continuing discussions and efforts. We’ll have regular updates and information for friends old and new. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter, or tweet us with #LBSOTA to keep the conversation alive!
I concur your majesty.

Every time I hear the name, Lord British, I think of this awesome digital history lesson:

Quote:
Lord British was killed during an in-game appearance on Ultima Online's beta test on August 8, 1997. A royal visit was conducted as a part of server population stress test. A player character known as Rainz cast a spell called "fire field" on Lord British that, surprisingly, killed him. According to Starr Long, the whole thing was just a human error: Lord British's character, like others, had been made invulnerable, but by design the invulnerability did not persist over several game sessions. Shortly before the incident, the server had crashed, and Richard Garriott had forgotten to set his invulnerability flag on when logging on again.[7] Shortly afterwards, Rainz's account was banned from the beta test for previously exploiting bugs rather than reporting them (frequently used by his character Aquaman to kill many player characters, a purported griefing incident). According to Origin, he was not banned for the assassination but rather for previous complaints against his account that were brought to light as a result of this attention.[8]
After Lord British was killed, fellow Ultima Online developer Starr Long summoned over some demons, who attacked innocent bystanders. This led to beta testers gathering up and protesting both the indiscriminate killing, and the banning of the assassin.

Against my better judgement, I donated $25 to this. I'm sure EvAv will be tempted to ban me for this, lol.

I especially don't know why I did it, since Garriott STILL has MMO on the brain with project.

this kickstarter budget is less than 1% of Garriott's net worth according to people here in Austin. So the only purpose I can figure was PR, or Richard got used to spending other people's money (ie NCSoft).

Garriot STILL has to apologize for the biggest piece of shit sequel that destroyed a franchise, Ultima 9. I'm still fucking mad at EA and this fucking clown of a game designer that couldn't get his own shit together.

I get terrified every time Garriott talks about making a new game - I have fond memories of what he did at Origin, overshadowed by the mountain of feces since the EA sellout.

I donated over $100 so don't worry, I'm probably first on the ban list.

I wouldn't be mad at anyone who wanted to back this project. Garriott is a beloved personality and one of the Grandfathers of gaming. I hope he has huge success with it.

I'm like many of the people above, I can't forgive him for the crap he has produced over the last 20 years or the lavish lifestyle has has managed to lead on the back of those crappy products. I think we all hate to see all the assholes in the industry coming back again and again to gouge consumers with shitty products.

But, if this is great... then it will be great. If it isn't. We can point and laugh.

It's Win / Win.

Same. It seems to be a realistic naked dude being landed on by a stylized Hermes or Apollo. . . all of which is on other stuff I can't see.

I was thinking the Archangel Michael - regardless it's super-tacky.

I hope it turns out to be a good game but I didn't back it. Something about it seemed untrustworthy to me, why does a multi-millionaire need 1 million bucks? He could've funded the game himself.

It's better to take risks with other people's money. I think it will result in him having less passion for it though. With no skin in the game he could give two shits if it comes out "yeah, muthafucking awesome" or more closely resembles the crap he's "created" in the last decade+.

You backed this, but withdrew your Torment pledge in favor of admitting you would probably just pirate it?
