New G.R.A.W. achievements

It seems that in an upcoming update to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, 5 new achivements will be added, as well as various other fixes.

If you look at the list of achievements on the xbox.com website, or on this page you can see the following new achievements.

This update is discussed further in this Q & A. It seems that they are also resetting the multiplayer leaderboards. The update is currently scheduled for early October, after being delayed from September.

Quote:
EXPLORER (Multiplayer)
Win 5 Team or Solo matches on each original MP map with at least 5 different gamer-tags in the room

VICTOR (Multiplayer)
Win a public player match in all original game types with at least 5 different gamer-tags in the room

TEAM PLAYER (Multiplayer)
Win 30 co-op matches with at least 6 gamer-tags in the room

ASSASSIN (Multiplayer)
Find and kill an opponent who has the Assassin Achievement

CRACK SHOT (Multiplayer)
Kill 10 players with gunshots and at least 5 gamer-tags in the room without reloading or dying
The Assassin achievement sounds fun. It may take a while to spread, but it'll be a nice surprise when you do get it.

I like this. It gives you a reason to back into the game again. As you're playing, you'll know that there's more to accomplish, adding a slight edge to how you play. Fuck, I still haven't bought this game yet....and I really need to.

I think it's a great idea for games with online multiplayer because it has the chance to bring back more opponents for those currently playing. With that being said, I was thiiiis close to picking GRAW on a couple of occasions, but held off because it seems like there will be plenty of other games to take up my time online in the very near future.

The Assassin achievement is a pretty neat use of achievements. Not seen one like that before.

Is that not sort of chicken and eggy?

What comes first? The achievement or the assassin?

I assume what they'll do is seem some developers and people who work in journalism with it and then let it spread from there.

My thought, it is really the only way they will get it out there without just giving it to a few random users.

As long as the initial people keep playing frequently, it should start to snowball pretty quickly. For those of us who play pretty much every day, it should spread pretty rapidly.

I cried "Nooooooooooo!" when I heard about the leaderboard reset though. I can understand that it was needed, as apparantly there's been some people using exploits to climb the leaderboard, but I liked my 6.

So is there an original Assassin achievement or am I missing something? It seems odd to me that the Assassin achievement you can only get for killing an Assassin, who has to get the achievement by killing an Assass...in...and...where the hell is the first assassin?

Sounds like Small Arms Achievement where if you play one of the dev team you get an achievement and then anyone who plays someone with that achievment gets it.

The Assassin Achievement:
The moment 5% of the population has it, 100% of the population will have it within days.

How does this work with the 1000 total achievement points for 360 games? Is Microsoft now allowing you to add over 1000 points in games in you throw in a patch?

Maybe they didnt have 1000 yet? the requirement is only that you dont have more than 1000 points, they may have shipped with less.

I know that achievement sounded very familar but I couldn't remember the game that did it first and it looks like it was/is Small Arms.
