Playstation 3 Hardware is (Slowly) Showing Up

With the launch coming closer and closer with each passing day, Sony is starting to send the very first final units of Playstation 3 to chosen magazines/ retailers. Firstly, The Playstation 3 Magazine has recieved jet-black Playstation 3 from the "good folk from Sony" passing through:

Quote:
Alreet, Nathan here on Friday that turned into one of the best days to work on PSM3. Not only have we secured the most exciting reviews issue since the dawn of PS2 (we can't say much, but we've got at least three of the best games to hit the stores this year and a world exclusive of an absolute gem on PSP) but the good folk from Sony popped into the office with a fully working PS3! Don't believe us? Then check this out...
Check the short blurb here.

Secondly, IGN reports that some Japanese retailers have received Playstation 3 kiosks and put them on display:

Quote:
September 29, 2006 - Sony has taken another major step on its path towards releasing the PlayStation 3, with the Akiba Keizan Shimbun newspaper reporting today that at least one major Tokyo retailer has taken delivery of the first PlayStation 3 demo kiosk. At this rate, the system may actually make it out on schedule!

Accoridng to the paper, the multi-story Yodobashi Camera outlet in Tokyo's Akihabara district now has an actual PlayStation 3 unit on display. A monitor above the system shows trailers for games like Afrika, Genji, Heavenly Sword and The Eye of Judgment.
You can read the (also) short IGN blurb here.

Finally, here is Dwight Howard from Orlando Magic playing NBA 2K7 on a PS3.

The kiosk is HUMONGOUS!

Also check out The Kiosk of Hades.

Wow...look how big the PS3 is at the bottom...it's like a piece of furniture.

I know it's not a PS3.

...As if many stores will be able to fit a kiosk like that in! It's the fucking citadel from HL2!

Why would you want to try the games? It's an entertainment centre not just a boring old video game console.

Maybe you can't try the games because its just an empty plastic shell? I wouldn't put that past Sony.

The kiosk will attract attention, that's for sure. Great marketing if they can get something like that at Best Buy - you'll see it the minute you walk in the store.

what's with all the extra space? they wouldn't need PCs in there to actually power the demos, would they?

LOL, poor Borys. I was thinking of some silly sarcastic remark about that kiosk but apparently it's been done a few times already.

Come on, dude, God of War is my favourite PS2 game.

God of War + huge PS3 kiosk (that only Kratos can scale) = WINNAR !!!

Are you sure Sony's not compensating for something with the size of that kiosk?

I am eager to read the review on PS3 as a Blu-ray player.

Will it able to play Blu-ray movie that equals or surpass current standalone $1000 Blu-ray player?

My first thought was "Where the FUCK is GameStop gonna fit that thing??"

Serously. It's, System, Monitor, 2 Controllers. Not, System, Monitor, Tower of the Dark Lord.

Bet that thing has its own gravitational field it's so huge. I'll be prying small children off of it all damn day. The system itself is so huge that if it fell it might crush Borys! ;D

I'm interested in trying it, can't wait for it to show up at my store, except it might take up the whole freakin' store!

Is it me or is the Super Happy mega fun life enhancer previously known as the PS3 becoming more Phantomesque all the time?

And in other News: Ken Kutaragi announced today that size does matter and all those jokes about the huge Xbox should be forgotten immediately. He then took a piss on his assistant leg and announced his full support for North Korean Nuclear proliferation.

Move along, nothing to see here...

Well, a PS3 I guess. Good to see it's still on schedule, so to speak.
