It looks like Knights of the Old Republic II may not be Obsidian's only entry in the Star Wars universe, as CEO Feargus Urquhart tells Rock Paper Shotgun that he's actively pitching the idea of a new game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II was utterly masterful. Sure, it had more rough edges than a Sarlacc Pit who’s also a door-to-door woodchipper salesman, but the underlying tale mixed oppressive darkness, moral grays, and an eye for exactly what makes Star Wars tick to stirring effect. Personally, I think it far outstripped KOTOR 1, but to each their own. Naturally, though, I nearly grinned my face in half when Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart told me his Black-Isle-based collective is lobbying heavily to develop a new Star Wars RPG. “I would say it’s within the top three pitches we’ve ever come up with,” he told RPS during a recent interview. But wait, what about the EA-shaped Death Star hovering over The Old Republic? Well, Obsidian’s new tale is set in a very, very different time period.
I would rather they started on the un-numbered Fallout 4 sequel now while Fallout 4 is in development so that it only releases about a year after. I need a constant stream of Bethesda'ish RPGs coming out! Obsidian nailed New Vegas and I am dying to see their next Fallout game.
was the second one worth playing? i played through the first on Xbox back in the day, but never picked up the second. was the quality close to what bioware did with the first? I've been thinking about grabbing them from steam, depending on how well they have aged.
that being said, bring it on. after the disappointment of swtor, i'd welcome a single player star wars rpg.
Hell yeah. Kotor 2 was way more fun to play than one, even with the shit ending. I would throw kickstarter money at them. I want more Non MMO Kotor games.
I'm currently playing through kotor 1 now. almost finished. It would be soooo much better if your decisions meant something instead of just being "light" or dark". there arent even any cool light powers. the side quests don't have many major twists or different outcomes either. kinda lame.
i did play half of kotor 2 but cant remember much. hopefully the steam version is patched.
i would love a third one set maybe after the movies or to tie into the new one!
Kotor2 was a bit of a hot mess, and it's generous of anyone to say it even had an ending. As I recall the credits started rolling right as the game got some momentum, and I was left with a screwed up 'wtf' face.
That said, I'm more than happy for any dev team willing to take the franchise back to that place. I love me a good SW single player experience. Swtor kind of filled that void in a weird manner of speaking, but I dunno, I'm always a sucker for junky space freighters and more pew pew!

Personally I say, no, KOTOR 2 wasn't very good at all. I completely disagree with everything the OP says about the game...
Yeah, I had to do a double take at "utterly masterful". Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of awesome there, but the overall execution really left something to be desired.
Game had a ton of potential though, was really enjoying it until the ending started getting very, very predictable. Wouldn't mind seeing them have another go.
KOTOR2 was the best 75% complete game I've ever played. But masterful? Not even close. The game shipped half-baked with a laughable non-ending, and no content patch (ala Mass Effect 3) was ever released to rectify the situation. (although there WAS an admirable fan-led effort to complete and patch in the major pieces of missing content, as I recall.)
played both kotor 1 and kotor 2 as light first, then dark. Maybe im a much harsher critic now than i was then, but it was fun times. minus the horrible ending of the second one.or lack of ending. I remember the pressures of the missed released dates etc. just like shadow run and alan wake. good games could not get it all together

No ending is better than spitting on the lore of past games and saying FUCK YOU to everybody that liked said lore/had a sense of choice.

Oh thank Christ. When I read the RPS guy going off about how it was such an amazing game and way better than KotOR 1, I thought I had fallen into a coma or awoken in another dimension or something.
Thankfully, I come over here and see I'm still sane haha.
For anyone who doesn't know, KotOR 2 was one of the biggest disappointments to hit Star Wars since the prequels. Not just in the fact that after the incredible original Knights of the Old Republic the sequel was a simple reiteration of the mechanics coupled with an utterly bizarre story, but within the game itself. As the story unfolded, and got increasingly bizarre, it became apparent that this was not going to be like the BioWare game.
And then came the biggest Fuck You ending since Ghost's N Goblins haha.
Seriously, how anyone could think that KotOR 2 was so incredible is absolutely beyond me.
For anyone interested in hte game, ignore AgnosticPope and apollyonbob, it actually adds depth to the Force and makes it compelling. It would've easily been the best SW movie if it had been made.
