My system is ready to crunch some serious numbers - just got the SSD stripe going. This looks like it will do nicely.
Why would you do that? Also games don't see a performance boost other than load times with an SSD and no benefit from striping... I assume you're running TRIM compatible firmware for that setup? Using a good hardware Raid controller?

If you read that Eurogamer review, read the comments, quite a lot of comments from people who said they read the review then bought the game. They then come back to the review because they completely disagreed with it.

I want faster load times honestly - I've been pretty happy w/ the setup & haven't run into any of the performance drops. Yes - TRIM supported & verified w/ Crystaldisk.
I guess it was one of those things that I just wanted to try out. In the long run - this will probably get moved over to my server & setup on a mirror for critical data, but just wanted to mess around a bit.
Do you ever get that "I just wanna fuck around a bit w/ some hardware" thing? It's been a long time since that bug bit my ass.

Well worth $16 for anyone who is remotely a fan of this type of game. Don't forget it's an indie title so it's a little rough around the edges in certain areas but the core game play is so damn fun none of that matters. It's a decent challenge so far for the first two missions I completed. The controls took a few minutes to get used to and I had to remap a handful of keys to my liking but after that it can get intense switching your weapons and dealing with a screen full of targets. I haven't even unlocked the suit yet but I'm having a blast.

I get where you're coming from but if purely for gaming it's unnecessary unless you're using older lower performing drives to get a slight boost for system performance that is usually negligible for normal environments. There is a higher risk for failure and data loss as well while running SSDs striped and from what I hear it cuts a fair chunk from their lifespan. Higher performance while weighing the risk similar to overclocking. I've got two Samsung 840 Pro 250GB with hdds in hot swap bays for mass storage and performance is as good as it gets for gaming and everything else.
~Damn this was meant to be with my former post. Here are some screens then.
It looks good enough at full res but the textures could be a lot better.

I had read that about reducing the lifespan of drive in a stripe config, but they probably aren't going to stay in there too long. TBH, I don't really see any performance difference between just using a single drive or the striped volume. I just kinda wanted to do it & see what the performance difference would be.
Like your setup - they'll likely go into the server as hotswap drives. Thats still running drives that spin. I usually upgrade my gaming system & the server gets my old hardware. I think it's running a dual core E6400... so moving those drives to it would probably help a bit. I run 2k8r2 on it... but really only as a testbed for the stuff I need to play around with at work.
