Armored Core 4 officially announced for Xbox 360 and PS3

Gaming Age has the story that AC4 has gotten it's official announcement for all next-gen (sorry, no "new gen") platforms:

Quote:
SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that it will publish Armored Core 4, the newest addition to FromSoftware's mech-based combat franchise, Armored Core. From the developers of the acclaimed title Chromehounds, Armored Core 4 is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, in spring 2007.
But Shane said...

Here's hoping for multiplayer. Plus I still have achievements I need to get in Chromehounds.

I last played the arena expansion to the second game. I loved the building part. Has combat gameplay got any better/quicker?

They added dual analog control in the last two games for the PS2.

Why would they want to kill chromehounds? Its also made by from software isnt it? I think AC has more of an anime feel to it.

All of the Armored Core games are at heart, basically the same game.

The chief difference is that the later you go, the more parts are available, the better the graphics look, and the more boring the excuse for singleplayer.

Not to mention, all those added parts - generally useless.

Hopefully they'll quit being so drag-ass in the single player experiance.

I really don't think Chromehounds is going anywhere. A lot of people, myself included, prefer slow paced non-anime mech sims, which the AC series is not. I was under the impression that Chromehounds was created by FROM specifically for people like me who just couldn't get into the anime mecha games.

Chromehounds is definitly NOT eastern mecha anime. Generally speaking the japanese like do not like the western style of mecha--but it is definitly not vice-versa.

For example- http://www.yellowlightman.com/macross/omake/jpbt/

those would be pretty old-school but are pretty bad ass. Go look at some of the origional "Battletech" art...they look retardedly bad carbon copies of macross mecha.

http://brianscache.com/unseen/

Ugh....hand me the eye soap...

The only good eastern style mecha game that is good (which happens to be excellent) are the Zone of Enders games. And perhapse the origional Virtual On...

But yes, I've recently been rediscovering the awsomeness of Mechwarrior Mercs and the vaunghted Mechcommander games. One of the reasons I loved the origional Heavy Gear so much that like Armored Core it had elements of both eastern and western mecha blended in a simulator type game.

I just bought Chromehounds...no regrets though... I prefer the mech games that are closer to the original Mechwarrior.

I don't know, after all the other Armored Core games, unless they make the missions more interesting or add a really good online mode I'll be sticking with Chromehounds. Armored Core is in need of some serious revamping.

Too many damn games... Madden, NBA 2k7. I'll never get around to Dead Rising and Saint's Row...

Do you know of a way to get Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries running on XP? I found a patch that makes MechWarrior 2: 31st Century combat run on XP, but AFAIK there aren't patches for the other games in the series.
