Looks were never this series' problem. They turned the tech demo into a real game for Warhead, and even more so for Crysis 2. But I'm hoping it's less of the same for part 3.
More stealth-like would be better. I also don't want to have to shoot people thirty fucking times just to kill them.
That's because they literally took a step back tech-wise from the 1st one. Like a speed boosted step back. And they crafted it for consoles.
That said, I enjoyed the improvements they added to streamline the suit powers...one of the few times streamlined didn't feel like stripped down.
Cautiously optomistic.
I was going to say the same thing. From a technical standpoint, comparing crysis 1 and 2 is like chalk and cheese.
With Crysis 2 they enormously scaled down the size of the levels, removed all the destroyable structures, severely neutered the physics, used lower resolution textures and dumbed down the AI.
So of course it bloody ran well compared to Crysis 1 and Warhead, they had to gut all the demanding aspects of it to achieve adequate performance across all platforms.
As for streamlining the suit powers, I found that this had the opposite effect for me. All the nuances and complexities of the suit had the effect of over simplifying game play.

One silenced headshot would take them down. Even the alien enemies if you hit them between the armor plates. I played the game as a stealth game. Only in the set battles did you have to go crazy and even then, if you scored a head shot, they were all pretty easy kills. Mouse FTW.
This is day one for me too though I miss the wide open levels of Crysis 1 and Warhead. Damn you consoles!

Stealth, sneak up, take down. Duck till your power recovers. I'd say the suit made some of the levels possible. At the hardest level, the enemies were pretty hard.

I just finished a play through on the hardest difficulty and still found the game beyond easy. The levels were so damn small and linear that I just gave up on using a stealth approach and rambo'd my way to the end. Didn't help of course that the AI is beyond retarded.
Ah Crysis, the great white hope of PC gamers everywhere.
They are beautiful looking games, can't deny that. I finished the first two... wish these guys knew a bit more about game design.
Oh well, you can't really hold it against them - this is only their 4th game after all. Give them another decade, they'll figure it out!
Honestly, I just don't understand why anyone thought that the wide open environments of Crysis 1 were somehow well designed... everything just feels so generic and bland. Just like the enemies, weapons and story does. It sure looks purdy though.
After the dog's poo that was Crysis 2, Crytek has to make a seriously god damned great game in order to get my money.
^ Agreed... I could not play that game for over 6 months with my sli 260's.... they let me down big time and I have turned on at the least 16 people to the first game on pc.... (sigh)
