I remember when Valve used to make Half-Life games way back when...
I hate these fan mods. They get me so excited to revisit old games, this would be the fifth trip back into Black Mesa, and they very rarely actually appear. I was hype for more starcraft 3D total conversions than I care to remember.
And Valve will never make a new Half Life. They are afraid they will drop the ball, now its in their head and they have rejection fears.
Yeah, something like that. And it's had a LOT of people working on it. RPS put up an article detailing the whole bit a while back. Look forward to this.
It's practically the DNF of mods. Good to see they might actually release something soon though.
I tend to cut non-profit, fan-made projects some slack; Black Mesa: Source, just like every other fan project out there is made as a hobby. The people involved will likely never see a dime because of this project...unless they luck out and get snapped up by Valve or some other developer.
It's taken seven or eight years for a group of hobbyists to recreate an entire retail game...and a rather sizable one, at that. All in all, it's not really that bad.
