Battlefield 3: Armored Kill Screenshots

DICE has released seven new screenshots of the Battlefield 3 DLC Armored Kill. The screens are taken from a map called Bandar Desert, click the headline to view them all.

Gorgeous pics! An AC-130 will be an interesting addition to the gameplay.

Of the $DLC, this one interests me the most due to the vehicles. I already have the karkland maps, which are not that good IMHO.

It doesn't look like it's flyable - the gunner screen-cap shows only him in the plane. After I thought about it, I suppose it will help maintain the atmosphere of it all. A decent pilot would be bored flying a slow pattern, and there would be no end of hi-lar-ious hijinx ramming a tank with a gunship.

^ sorry, accidentally clicked edit instead of quote.

But anyway, it looks like there are slots for two players. Maybe only one guy was inside the plane and switched to the gunner seat to take a screenshot.

both of those slots are gunner slots. The slot itself has a different icon based on the player role. Makes sense considering the ac130 has multiple guns. But it does suck that you can't fly it.

But... I do recall in desert combat mod for BF1942 they added an ac130 and most of my time flying it was really spent slowly crawling the desert floor with it as a giant indestructible tank. Also you could just land in their base and grab the flag and nobody could stop you because you were an ac130. I'd wager that only 10% of pilots would fly it correctly, and only 10% of the time they'd be the one that gets the pilot seat. So no flying makes sense.

^ I am enjoying your logic sir.

After looking at that screenshot that does make sense to have it be more a passenger role only. I wonder how often you are able to jump into one. What is the respawn rate? Do you respawn into an airborne one or does it take off and it AI controlled? I love the sound design of the series so I am curious how it will sound when rounds come flying into the area. COD made it sound pretty cool.

Also I will cry real tears if you can't spawn in the back of the ac130 and parachute onto the battlefield.

IF you could run and jump out of a cargo bay that would be too awesome. I dont even care if that is technically accurate.

It still has a rear ramp so you could technically.
