A QA tester at Traveller's Tales Games posted an image on Twitter of what appears to be a revised Wii U controller. GamesRadar has a posted a set of before and after images highlighting the changes.

First, note the new analog sticks. It appears that Nintendo has decided to include actual sticks, instead of the nubs found on the original tablet and the 3DS. This change might bump up the price, but it'll make a big difference in the long term. Next, notice the movement of the Start and Select buttons, which have found a new home on the right side of the controller. There's also a little square on the left side (that we really don't know the use of) and, maybe most importantly, actual Wii U branding.
With other rumors floating around speculating a name change, this is pseudo-confirmation that the Wii U moniker might be here to stay - if this is legit, that is.
The new analog sticks look to be a considerable improvement. That said, I'll take an Xbox 360 controller over it any day.
This is horrible. Either the sticks are above the buttons making it useless or you have to hold the controller upside down when using the sticks (which I doubt is the case). You would have to try really hard to come up with something even less ergonomic than this.
I'll withhold judgement until I try it out myself. Nintendo hardware always just works, so I trust they've put in enough testing with this to know it'll play fine.
Am I the only one that thinks the joystick location makes perfect sense with how you're going to have to hold this? Buttons parallel to grip is your classic controller setup, and thumbsticks above the grip is how most controllers are designed. Think this looks ideal for a control setup designed around the shape of the device.
I'm just hoping that D-Pad is better than the one on the wiimotes. Current one is way too tiny, leaves my thumb sore even after short periods of use. I'm not getting a good idea of scale from the pic.
Just in case the meme hasnt been used enough in this thread. FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL.
Na i dunno, the buttons below the right stick makes sense, you couldn't use them anyhoo if you were using the right one and would be using the back or shoulder buttons so go on with that noise. Great idea actually
As long as i dont have to swing my arms like a jackass ill get this. If i do, ill be really upset.

What does it matter where the right analog stick is, precisely? Its very rarely used as is, and we don't know where the ergonomics leave your grip positioned.

I'm going to have to agree. The only reason you'd use a right analog stick is for dual stick shooters.

Mind, I am the first to hate on Nintendo, but I really don't see the fuss over the stick placement. If you're going to bitch about everything pertaining to a topic of your ire, you will lose credibility quickly. The Wii-U's (likely) low end graphics and (Probably) input lag will give us all the flamebait we need. Leave the controller alone.

Because it's a complete flip-flop of a standard for certain genres? When was a joystick ever above the buttons? It's just unnatural.
