Bits and pieces of it are coming online for the consoles over the past day or so, but still a Fail of epic proportion. Personally I only bought into it for the discount on the future DLC, so no real skin off my back as long as they continue to add months until the system is fully functional.

Here is my theory. Activision grossly underestimated the number of people (ie suckers) willing to pay for something that everyone else is giving them from free. I'm also a little ashamed to say I'm going to be playing this on Xbox 360 soon as I've been feeling the pressure from friends. I found a restock of the Hardened Edition and I ordered it.

Peer pressure never fails, huh? I'm sticking to being an Ace Pilot on my BF3. I played a lot of MW2 and see no point in playing more of the same. I already gave MW3 a rental, plowed through the SP, enjoyed it, tried the MP, realized it was the same unbalanced camping fest with OHK weapons, then promptly turned of my PS3, and returned the game. Story of my life.

But it isn't just the paid version that's seen outages. I'm totally flabbergasted by Activision dropping the ball here.

I was really confused with the info as well.
So there is
*Free Console Elite
*Paid Console Elite
*One Day in the Future Free PC Elite
*Unknown: Paid PC Elite
It's also unknown if the Free PC Elite matches the Free Console Elite (due to some "security concerns") or if Free PC Elite is a hybrid of Free and Paid Console Elite or if it will represent the full feature set of Paid Console Elite. Or maybe none of the above.
This creates problems asking questions about the service, when you draw conclusions, they say - I wasn't talking about THAT Elite.
My take on it when I heard the news is this. Scrap ELITE. It's already failure in the player's eyes and you're bleeding brand loyalty. Repackage it and relaunch it properly with whatever crap comes out next year. Even fewer people will buy into then because of the blunder now, but a fresh start is better than limping forward. People who paid for it should get a cupon for it's relaunch and free passes for testing.

If you buy Elite on the console version, do you get future $DLC free, or just at a markdown? This is the only question I wonder about. If you pay $50 now for $60 worth of maps later free, some might consider that a decent deal alone.
So, buy Elite, get the four (probably four) future map packs free? Or, just a discount? Anyone?
I guess it makes sense though, considering the schedule they had to put this out on, I guess they didn't have the time to get this properly set up before the holidays.

Yes. The annual subscription to Call of Duty ELITE is an all-inclusive membership, and that means you get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 downloadable content, including all of the MW3 map packs and more as part of your premium membership. No need to buy additional DLC.

I don't plan on stopping BF3, I'm loving it. However none of my friends really play PC games. So I'm getting the console version of MW3. It'll likely go with very little play as I never even touched Black Ops.

Thanks for the info. For anyone planning to get all of the map packs, it's worth it on that basis alone. That doesn't mean it's a great deal, but you do save money over buying individually.
