The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Preview
Computer and Video Games has posted a hands-on
preview of Bethesda Studios' highly anticipated role-playing game,
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim .

The actual fighting's been improved a lot since Oblivion's occasional mess of unconnected blade swinging. It's now a much more solid and physical affair to heft your weapon into people's faces. There are also some great finishing moves that gut and slice enemies for a messy finish. You can equip different things in each hand and you can save the most useful combinations as instantly selectable favourites - a sword in your right, fire magic in the left, axe and an ice spell, a bow, whatever. You can then switch depending on what you're fighting.

Are the Elder Scrolls games kind of like the Grand Theft Auto games, where the games basically have no connection to the previous games or do I have to play the previous four Elder Scrolls games to understand the overall story?

The games are just based in the same world. You can jump right in without having played any of the previous games.

I was just thinking the same thing ... Skyrim -> SWtoR -> ME3 ... a long streak of gaming bliss starts on 11.11!

And hopefully we can add Kingdoms of Amalur to that list after ME3.

If you only knew! I drank maybe 6 years topps, but in that time I've tasted well over 300 beers. I consider them more complex than wine and enjoy delighting my guests with unique micros.

Was going to enjoy a Stone Ruination IPA, but ended up with Sapporo. For shame.
