X COM is just a generic sci-fi "x-files" type FPS that could be named anything, but instead drags a prestigious franchise back through the muck. (sorry again for interceptor) I would have liked Syndicate to play more like Republic Commando. That didn't feel like syndicate at all but it looked like a great sci-fi game. The new ShadowRun reboot is looking to be a failure also as it's browser based. Not much hope for some of these classics. I'm glad at least Deus Ex did well.

It's hard to watch something you loves turn into something you hate. I will tear the eyes out of the head of the person who screws up a future Star Control game.

It looks a little generic. It doesn't seem to be in the spirit of Syndicate at all. It seems to be more in the spirit of Deus Ex. It will probably be a great game, but where is the scene where I'm mowing down a hundred civilians with a flamethrower?

I concur with the general feeling: it doesn't look very much like Syndicate, but appears to be shaping up into an interesting game despite that. It's a shame EA didn't have the balls to let this game create its own IP and franchise.
In my imagination, a genuine Syndicate remake takes the engine valve used for the free game they released, Alien Swarm. Then you've got a 4 player arcadey co-op, top down shooter action with character classes, levels, and other RPG elements adding value to the product.
Squad vs Squad 4vs4 PvP on tight maps designed for balance, President/Horde mode, (fending off swarms of assassination bots while you protect the mark) Campaign mode spanning across several countries on missions for cash to pay for upgrades, and have everyone in the game look like some form of tricked out cyborg so all they have to do is change the blood to hydrolic fluid for countries with stricter guidelines.

I love a good fps as much as the next person but this is not syndicate. At least give me a real remake of the old classic as well as this game.
I know, the modernization of Bionic Commando is how it should be done...they created a modern craptastic version of Bionic Commando, but they at least did a proper update to the classic console game, at the same time, so that we at least had something to fall back onto.

I'd play that.

While I do agree that this isn't a true sequel to the original in a strict sense, I think it keeps pretty close in spirit. The mood and vibe is right, but in an FPS form. To whoever says this game is too much like Deus Ex, I would say the original Syndicate probably inspired some of that game.
Long story short, I am really looking forward to playing this. However, I would also desperately want to play what someone suggested earlier; a Syndicate remake with the Alien Swarm engine.
