GoGamer has updated the 48 Hour Madness sale with a special on Human Head's new DOOM3-engine shooter, Prey, for only $32.90.
Quote:
Prey: Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. His life changes when an otherworldly crisis forces him to awaken spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and eventually his planet. Prey is serious, dark story, based on authentic Cherokee mythology. Themes of sacrifice, love and responsibility are explored and the story dives into emotional territory not yet explored by similar games.
Other GoGamer.com specials include: Heroes of Might & Magic V for $29.90, Pirates of the Caribbean for $7.90 and Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII for $12.90.
Please use the above GoGamer.com links when ordering these items.
It's like 6 hours of gameplay bapenguin, and the multiplayer is among the worst I've ever played. . . just rent it. The 6 hours of single player is freaking insanely good though. . . tremendous story-telling, and amazing play mechanics.
Been wanting to pick this game and GRAW up but have really been considering a 360 for Chromehounds and might just wait to play all 3 on the system instead.

That seems like an insanely short amount of gameplay. You can't imagine how much time I've plugged into Burnout Revenge and I'll bet I've spent close to 6 hours on Hitman and I'm not anywhere near done.
I just finished Prey. It took me somewhere in the 10-hour mark and was crazy good! It has been a LONG time since I enjoyed a FPS that much. I think only Half Life (original) and Quake II compare.
You need to play it twice in SP on the 360 for the achievements, the SP is indeed great. I actually enjoyed it more the second time on Cherokee difficulty. Still it would be hard to swallow the $60 purchase price imo. $32 is a great deal for the PC version though, I agree that the multiplayer is pretty bad so really you are paying for the 6-10 hour SP.
I'm gonna go back and play it on a higher difficulty.
There are very few games I have ever played more than once through:
Prince of Persia
Full Throttle
Sonic Adventure
Pokemon
Sam & Max Hit The Road
I don't think there has ever been a FPS game I've gone through more than once (single player).
I can't stress it enough. This game rocks. Single player is such a total blast. The pacing, the enemies, the level design, the weapons, even the story and how it unfolds is all top-notch.
I finished it last night, was fun. Wish they used the portals a bit better or more varied or something. Multiplay isn't bad on the 360, I've had some fun with that too.
As far as playing it a second time.. I doubt I will, I hate playing games twice.
The multiplayer is actually bad on the 360. . . I didn't try it on the PC version that I played and beat earlier at a friend's house (Had to wait for the Gamefly copy to get to me for the 360).
Horrible lag occurs when anyone uses the acid shotgun weapon, everyone moves ridiculously fast so that explosive and spray weapons are much more effective than precision weaponry (sort of like Quake, but you don't have a mouse so you can't make up for it by aiming more quickly).
But the biggest problem I had with multiplayer is that while it did use cool portals in places, they did not use the cool gravity control features that are so cool in the main game. There was potential to have revolutionary multiplayer as well as revolutionary single-player here. . . but they just didn't do it.
Been playing this on the PC and its not too bad. I love some of the effects of walking on the walls / upside down and later on in the game where you can walk on the giant rocks(almost like a moon) and you are held on by a small force of gravity, The flipping of the gravity points in some of the rooms with the blue glowing things is awesome. I think im almost done with the game but its been a fun one.
If you want the 360 version for cheaper you can go to play asia and get it for 40 bucks. The game isn't region protected and is the same as the US verison. The only downside is you have to wait about a week for it to come.
Although, if what I've read about lag in the game is true, it may not be worth playing. Looks like I have to get on the ChromeHounds bandwagon soon to join in the fun.
