This pleases me.
Also, in before mandatory "grr, you have to install a client" "no it's cool, steam is great" "whatever, DRM sucks" nonsense.

I just pre-ordered steam the other day after watching John Carmack's talk. So this also pleases me

Wonder if the PS3 version of this will get steamworks too. Seems unlikely though.

The ultimate irony will be if Rage ends up requiring Gamespy :P

So if a game uses Steamworks and I buy the disc version, I can later re-download through Steam if I lose the disc? Pardon my ignorance, but I've never purchased a Steamworks games that wasn't purchased directly through Steam.

With Steamworks being all the RAGE with the developers now instead of Games for Windows Live, my days as a PC gamer are officially coming to a close.
My only hope now is a Windows 8 Tablet with Live games. Please please make this happen.

Might as well get the disc. The PC version must be 2 discs?

The console version is 22-23gb, and Carmack said something about different compression level on the megatexture for PC with some test maps in full detail... or something, it is hard to get derailed when His Holiness talks in one and a half hour about rather hard topics. Anyways, expect a shitload of discs for PC, which is why I'm getting it on Steam. Then again my DL is faster then reading from DVD

That's my thinking, if the 360 version installs to 22 gigs, I'm thinking the pc version is close to that. My slow ass dsl would take forever to download, a little over an hour a gig.
