The game plunges players into the dark and gritty vampire underworld of modern-day L.A. as a creature of the night. Players will develop their character's powers, interact with other characters and embark on story-driven quests as they battle mortals and other vampires with an incredible array of vampire powers and weapons. Powered by Valve's Source Technology, the game is based on White Wolf's popular Vampire: The Masquerade pen-and-paper RPG series and its official clans.
The Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines unofficial patch comes highly recommended. You can get latest version from The Patches Scrolls or Softpedia.
I bought this quite a bit after the initial release so I never experienced the issues everyone else seemed to have.
For $4.99 it's an absolute steal. The fact that community is still supporting the game so many years after its release pretty much says it all...
That would be because it's such great game, not because it's still a buggy piece of shit.
It's great. I swear.
This is one of those games that it was completely impossible to play when it launched. It ran poorly, it crashed, there was a showstopper bug in the main quest, entire gameplay elements weren't fully implemented, and lots of other normally unforgivable shit. What was underneath that mess was just so good that the game is still played and supported by the community to this day.
I enjoyed this game back in the day. Using only the official patches I didn't have any huge problems with bugs either, although I did encounter some minor ones here and there.
One of the games I regret not finishing, I got to the grave yard scene I think where they come up from the graves and you and that guy? had to fight them off. After two failed attempts I gave up and never went back.

The haunted house thing was just kind of a sidebar. It was very cool though.
I loved this game, and anyone who hasn't played definitely should get it. Vampire was one of those games that was just a few missteps from all-time greatness. The game was ultimately very good, even under the bugs, and very playable, but with more polished development (maybe being less rushed) it would have been so much more.
I played this game a couple months ago, with the new clans patch and it was fun as hell. Buggy and pissed me off a lot, but the game is worth the frustrations...
