Vampire: The Masquerade 75% off on Steam

This weekend on Steam you can purchase Troika Games' first-person RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, on sale at 75% off ($4.99).

Quote:
Beat the summer heat in this chilling first person Action RPG. Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™ is available at 75% off this weekend!

Offer ends Monday at 10AM Pacific Time.

The game plunges players into the dark and gritty vampire underworld of modern-day L.A. as a creature of the night. Players will develop their character's powers, interact with other characters and embark on story-driven quests as they battle mortals and other vampires with an incredible array of vampire powers and weapons. Powered by Valve's Source Technology, the game is based on White Wolf's popular Vampire: The Masquerade pen-and-paper RPG series and its official clans.
The Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines unofficial patch comes highly recommended. You can get latest version from The Patches Scrolls or Softpedia.

Wait, they're still charging $20.00 for this game new? WTF? The folks who made it have been out of business for like 6 years.

Fucking Activision.

I still might get this, I do love the shit out of the game. You do need that patch though.

I bought this quite a bit after the initial release so I never experienced the issues everyone else seemed to have.

For $4.99 it's an absolute steal. The fact that community is still supporting the game so many years after its release pretty much says it all...

That would be because it's such great game, not because it's still a buggy piece of shit.

It's great. I swear.

This is a must buy if you've never played it.

This is one of those games that it was completely impossible to play when it launched. It ran poorly, it crashed, there was a showstopper bug in the main quest, entire gameplay elements weren't fully implemented, and lots of other normally unforgivable shit. What was underneath that mess was just so good that the game is still played and supported by the community to this day.

Classic Trokia/Obsidian.

I enjoyed this game back in the day. Using only the official patches I didn't have any huge problems with bugs either, although I did encounter some minor ones here and there.

Can anyone confirm (without spoilers) if there was ever any resolution to the haunted house thing?

I remember being creeped out in that part & then... well... nothing. It stopped & I lost interest.

One of the games I regret not finishing, I got to the grave yard scene I think where they come up from the graves and you and that guy? had to fight them off. After two failed attempts I gave up and never went back.

The haunted house thing was just kind of a sidebar. It was very cool though.

I loved this game, and anyone who hasn't played definitely should get it. Vampire was one of those games that was just a few missteps from all-time greatness. The game was ultimately very good, even under the bugs, and very playable, but with more polished development (maybe being less rushed) it would have been so much more.

Wasn't there a fan-project to convert this all to the newer version of the source engine? Anyone know where that ended up?

I missed this one the first time around, so this was an easy buy. Have it installed with latest Unofficial Patch ready to go for this weekend . . .

I played this game a couple months ago, with the new clans patch and it was fun as hell. Buggy and pissed me off a lot, but the game is worth the frustrations...

I really liked the first game, but never played this. I buy it in a second, if I had a PC. Wonder if I could get it to work via Wine on OSX...
