Actually Cryptic wasn't floundering it was one the few entities that was creating capitol Atari sold them because the desperately need cash right now.
PWI buying them is basically like waking up one day and finding that Warren Buffet is your long lost uncle and thinks you are the single most awesome person on the planet, what I'm trying o say is there development budgets have just increased ten fold. And PWI is pretty hands off Runic has often praised PWI for there support and non-intrusiveness to Torchlight.
Honestly a lot of failing MMO developers would kill to be in Cryptics shoes right now.
