Adhesive Games has released a trailer for their upcoming multiplayer mech combat game Hawken, which is planned for the PC, 360 and PS3.
Quote:
What type of game is Hawken?
Hawken is a multiplayer mech combat game. The focus is on creating an intense and enjoyable battle experience that captures the feeling of piloting a heavy war machine while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic.
What engine are you using?
Hawken has been developed using the Unreal Engine from Epic Games.
How much will it cost?
We don’t know yet, but our plan is for Hawken to be a downloadable title that will have a relatively low cost compared to boxed games.
I like mecha combat games, and there has been a real shortage lately. That video looks very early, but it might have promise when they smooth out the rough edges.
One thing I will say is that Western developers don't animate mecha very well. Fast mecha combat is fun, no doubt, but those things just don't move right.

Yeah, I have to say that Armored Core 1, on the damn PSX was more appealing than what I've seen here, modern graphics notwithstanding.
The AC mechs looked better, moved better, and didn't try for so much realism, making their super-fast movement look perhaps more plausible. Or maybe it was the fact that in AC each super-fast movement was accompanied by a blast of jet-propulsion.
Sweet shaky-cam on a slow moving camera bro. Also, I would never show a game at that state. It still needs a shitload of animation-blending work. They've given me reason to doubt.
So many negative nancys. The game looks great for an xbla title or psn game and it's a WIP. If polished, it could nearly compete with many regular retail releases. Sure, maybe it doesn't look as good as battlefield 3, but this is not a big studio release. I mean, comeon. Their competition is War World: http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/war-world
This is coming from the man who's excited about Firefall. Do I really need to link their terrible CGI trailer?
They released a gameplay demo along the cool CGI trailer. Showed over 10 min of gameplay. So what's your point. I see no gameplay here.

Ugh, the fake shaky cam was annoying the hell out of me too. And the fact that it was the exact same motion played over and over.
