Well, no more speculation, no more guesswork. Valve has cancelled their press event for next Monday at E3. They will still have a presence there in the form of a booth, but it looks like now that there will be no special reveals or the like now that Portal 2 has been delayed till next year. There was no flowery press release with this notice from GlaDOS, just a simple direct statement.
That's kind of sad. Wonder if it's 'cause the hype monster/rumor mill got out of control, and they decided to crush instead of just outright being disappointing?
Hopefully they'll turn it around and have some stuff for us later this year.
I don't think Valve have anything particulary amazing to announce, and you can imagine all teh FFS EP 3 messages if the event was just "Hey guys Portal 2 is lulz lul"
This I can appreciate. Rather than pump out some nonsense to cover for not having something worth talking about, they've canceled the thing entirely.
I'm tired of publishers/developers whose press releases of announcements about announcements about announcements fill the air with nothing but noise and static. They treat their customers like deranged drug addicts who just need a little morsel to get them to drool.
Thank you, Valve. When you have something to say, say it. Until then, thanks for not bothering. It's appreciated.

Yeah, once again Valve shows its relationship with its customers is mature. I wish we'd see that more in the industry. I really thought that was the direction we were going back when devs used to hang out on the message boards, and feedback was welcomed and listened to.
It's funny how Valve wants little to do with the PS3, and how Valve treats their customers is so counter to how Sony has throughout the lifecycle of the PS3 (and almost more so in the run up to the box). I wish Sony would learn a thing or two from them on how to be awesome in the eyes of your customer.
Just a quick note to clarify the Monday Press Event at the Regal Theater is completely cancelled. Please do not head over there expecting to see us <g>
All the Valve E3 activities are being held in MR514 during the show. If you still need to make an appointment, just let me know.
WTF, this is to irrational to be true so it must be a ruse. I bet this is all part of the show, you guys just wait as this is all part of the show. Well I hope so.

Half Life 3 is announced, finished and preloaded on everyone's steam. Also, please note that fairies are waiting to jump out of your keyboard at your command, wrap their entire nude bodies around your cocks and flutter their wings to vibrate you to orgasm. The enrichment center apologizes, but the tentacle accessory girl-game attachment has been delayed until the next take-your-daughter-to-work day.
Give up on Valve releasing any sort of creative IP, or complex game ever again. Steam prints money for them, so why do they need to make the effort? If I had a legal money printing machine at my house, I wouldn't work either. Even Portal was basically cribbed from DigiPen students they ended up hiring.
