Another week, another Weekly Release. A few interesting titles hit this week, most notably Odama for the Gamecube. It's a real time strategy war game mixed with pinball...yes...pinball. Also this week the new Tombraider game hits shelves and multiple platforms, and so far the reviews have been average.
Not too much going on in the theater or on the DVD front. Summer movie season is fast approaching though!
Monday
Major League Baseball 2K6 (360)
Odama (GCN)
Tuesday
Army Men: Major Malfunction (XBOX)
Auto Assault (PC)
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (360)
Cabbage Patch Kids: The Patch Puppy Rescue (GBA)
Classified: The Sentinel Crisis (XBOX)
Condemned: Criminal Origins (PC)
HUMMER: Badlands (XBOX, PS2)
King of Fighters NeoWave, The (XBOX)
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend (PC, XBOX, PS2, 360)
Monster Rancher EVO (PS2)
Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked (PS2)
Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff, The (PC)
Stacked (PC, XBOX)
I also have to admit that the Tomb Raider: Legend demo on the 360 was fine indeed. The Ms. loved just watching it. She also likes that Lara kicks serious ass. I may pick it up to take turns with the lady of the house.

Not a bad week for 360, actually, 2 staple games building up the library for it.

Auto Assault is a ball of crap, but that is just how I feel after a small amount of experience in the beta months ago. Probably the most boring game I have beta'd ever.
wait, so mlb 2k6 is coming out today?! And Battlefield tomorrow, maybe I liked the slow influx of 360 games. I still havent played oblivion much and I just got top spin.
Odama and Tomb Raider look good... that's about it as far as I can tell. Maybe Planet of the Apes Ultimate DVD Edition.

So what are the good summer blockbusters supposed to be? Superman is one, I guess, and Silent Hill is shaping up to be a good one, too, but ... what else is there? I've been so bored with Hollywood movies (even supposedly good ones where absurd over-acting and cliches seem to be the order of the day ... like Crash) that I haven't bothered to even keep track of what's coming out.
The new Flaming Lips album, on the other hand, is great.
I actually got interested when i noticed there's a Samurai Champloo game, since i love that anime. Then i saw the screens and suddenly forgot there's a game.

I'm looking forward to X-Men 3 and The Davinci Code.
MI3 is another big blockbuster this summer. There's something else big coming out memorial day, I can't remember what though.
There are a couple of games on the list that I'm interested in as rentals. I've never been a huge fan of Tomb Raider, but I enjoyed the X360 demo, so it's on my rental list. I'm also somewhat interested in Monster Rancher, as I have a couple of friends who were addicted to the old PS1 games. I figure I'll give it a rental at some point as well.
Did anyone see Fun With Dick and Jane in theatre? It could be really good... or it could be cable guy bad.
Worth a rent?
If by Cable Guy Bad you mean incredibly awesome, than I'd say go for it.
Seriously, FwD&J looks like a turd, but Cable Guy is an incredibly funny, well-done dark comedy. Give it a repeat viewing or two. It really is amazing ... one of Jim Carrey's finest comedic performances. He's playing an actual character (whereas Ace Venture is just manic insanity and everything else seems derivative of his Dumb and Dumber stuff). He's really quite disturbed, and the lengths he goes to in order to manipulate relationships and people is just sick. Plus he beats the shit out of Owen Wilson using bathroom utilities. Can't beat that.
