New Guild Wars 2 Video Previews Races and Asks, "What is YOUR story?"
In the upcoming MMO Guild Wars 2, choosing which of the five distinctive races to play is just the first step down the road to your ultimate destiny. Starting with this crucial decision, your character's epic tale begins. With their new preview video, NCsoft and ArenaNet pull back the curtain to reveal more details of the five diverse player races in Guild Wars 2. Which will you choose?
Take the role of a noble human defender and fight for the survival of your people. Play a ferocious feline charr, carving a trail of conquest. Become one of the brilliant asura to study hidden knowledge and harness incredible magical technology. Assume the form of a shapeshifting norn, the massive battle-forged warriors from the far north. Explore the mysteries of Tyria as one of the sylvari, a mystical new race of plant spirits. From these five races, mighty heroes shall rise!
To set the stage for Guild Wars 2, this video introduces the five iconic heroes of each race, all voiced by accomplished actors. Logan Thackeray the human defender is voiced by Troy Baker (Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece). Rytlock Brimstone the charr warrior is voiced by Steve Blum (Spectacular Spider-Man). Eir Stegalkin the norn is voiced by Jocelyn Blue (Invader Zim, Space Jam). Zojja the asura is voiced by Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, The Guild, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Caithe the sylvari is voiced by Kari Wuhlgren (Wolverine and the X-Men, Aliens in the Attic).
Guild Wars 2 is a visually stunning MMO that will offer players the epic grandeur of a massive role playing environment as well as the challenge of intense player vs. player competition. Building on the success and popularity of Guild Wars, ArenaNet is creating a subscription-free MMO where players create their own personalized story in a richly imagined world where their actions have real consequences.

I do have some concerns though. The great thing about Guild Wars was that you could easily identify classes at a glance (much like TF2). Now with races introduced i have a feeling that those days are over. Guess we will only know closer to release.
Looks incredible! I'm on board for the next release, it just feels like forever since I've heard any updates for this game. Wonder if they are going to have a closed beta soon?
Looks interesting. The "feel" seems quite different from the first game though with all these new races (especially the "tech" race)... then again, I never played the expansions.
The art is still fantastic. Really hope this turns out well seeing as how I enjoyed the hell out of the first game.
I would have liked Guild Wars more if it wasn't corridor-based. The biggest grip I had with that game were the invisible walls. Rather than have nice go-anywhere open-ended environments, they created a funnel, which wasn't very, um, funnel to me. It was VERY frustrating to figure your way thorough the invisible maze to get to the top of a hill, or even get down from the hill.

Not sure about invisible walls, but it did lack a z-axis so you couldn't jump off of stuff (even small ledges that you person could've just walked over). They re-tooled the first one a bit, but most of the game was more or less corridors. Factions was a little better in some places and way worse in others... but in Nightfall they really opened it up. I can't imagine that's still a complaint with Nightfall and Eyes of the North.
In GW2 they've already confirmed that you can jump down ledges and swim and climb and stuff, so that won't be an issue.
If you already own one of them, I recommend just grabbing the EotN (or GW:EN, whatever acronym you prefer) expansion at some point. It really sets you up for GW2 and you get to see the culmination of all the improvements and design decisions the devs reached through the years of improving the three games. Even though it's an expansion, there's an incredible amount of content. Dungeons alone should keep you busy for awhile.
