Voodoo Extreme has word NCSoft announced ArenaNet's online roleplaying game, Guild Wars 2, will be delayed until 2010-2011. Along with that piece of information comes more bad news on NCSoft's profits, which are down 40%. VE also has some projected release dates for a couple more of NCSoft's upcoming titles, along with player number tables for several of its games.
Geeze, this is just great. After hearing Sims 3 and Dragon Age were delayed, I was pretty bummed out. But THIS?! *sigh* damn economy ruining everything. Oh well, at least there's some upcoming MMOs to play this year.

I never got around to playing Guild Wars when it came out. I had several MMO accounts at the time.
Is it still worth getting into at this point? GoGamer has Guild Wars Trilogy for $29.90. Should I get Guild Wars: Eye of the North while I'm at it? Amazon has it for $18.55.
I'm still enjoying it after all that time. Started playing in the Open Beta. I really think you souldn't miss it at that price
Thanks. It is very tempting at those prices. Even when you add shipping it's a cubic assload of gaming hours for the money.
I was looking at the screenshots for Eye of the North. The game still looks good. It's one of those games I always wanted to play and never got around to.
Guild wars takes the definition of grind to insane levels. I do like playing PVE with some friends from time to time though. Of all of them Eye of the North and Prophecies are my two favorites although my favorite character class is the Ritualist.

What grind? Guild Wars intentionally dropped the concept of grind. You can hit max lvl in 2 days. What are talking about? Beyond that point, you just play with friends, do a lot of trading, earn titles, possibly continue upgrading your equipment.
I was referring to titles mostly but also the 15k armor. There is more to the word grind then just a level cap. I suspect you havent played Guild Wars enough to know just how insane it can get as far as time sinks.

I was looking forward to GW2. Not shocked it isn't coming out soon. Its not even listed for pre-order anyware which often means a game is still a way off.

Titles just dont interest me. The way I see it, the Guild Wars games all have core stories, and can be "beaten", in as much as Oblivion could be beaten. I like that. Whatever grind that could be left is completely optional, and in my opinion, pointless.
I'll consider taking a look at this still. After reading about it in PC gamer awhile back, it's peaked my interest. I always wanted to get into it for it's no monthly fee policy too. I played a few times and it was quite fun but there is a small learning curve.

I love GW, but the things you mention after reaching level cap/beating the story are the grind you claim GW doesn't have. The titles are an example of one of the worst MMO grinds I've encountered... It's not like other MMOs, where you're playing through content -- you literally have to farm mindlessly for weeks on end. Sure, they are optional. But after beating the campaigns, it's one of the few things left to do in the game.
I still think GW is worth buying for that price though. The campaigns are a lot of fun to play through, and the game is still gorgeous after all these years.
