According to gaming industry retail news site MCVUK:

The Xbox 360 enjoyed a successful Black Friday as it recorded record-breaking sales in the US, outselling rival console PS3 by a ratio of three-to-one.
Retailers reported the console’s sales were on track to outperform previous years, estimating a 25 per cent increase in hardware sales when compared to the same weekend in 2007, according to a Microsoft press release.
Software sales also contributed to Microsoft’s success on one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year, with key titles such as Gears Of War 2, Fable II and Lips bolstering the Xbox 360’s position as the console with the highest attach rate, with an average of 8.1 games per console sold.
Looks like the new lower price point is working out for ol' MS.
It's certainly not the same system, but for consumers it looks pretty close. Even if they know the PS3's hardware is a bit beefier, and that the Xbox may or may not die, it seems that price-point is everything to the consumer.
Hell, I've shelled out enough for a PS3 with all my 360 purchases (memory card, external HD, second controller, RROD repair after warrenty, XBLA titles), but for some reason I stay with the box. MS just hurts us to show us how much they love us, right?

This is a good generation for consoles, because each of the "big three" has compelling reasons for purchasing them.
That being said, if you're a serious gamer and you don't own a 360, you're missing out on the largest library of titles of the three consoles, and some very, very fun experiences.
This season is a huge victory for every console. Three-to-one or whatever, I've been selling everything where I work. The truth is that Wii would have once again destroyed both of the competitors had Nintendo managed to meet demand. But thanks to a price drop on 360s and increased popularity in the Blu-Ray format, the other two systems have had strong sales.
That said, I love my PS3 dearly, but will definitely be contributing to this statistic once I recieve some Jasper units.
I think the pack in game bundles (Like Indy jones and KF Panda) mixed with in-store incentives like the free Guitar Hero bundle really helped move consoles. Many different "big box" retailers had some great price reductions as well as game bundles for the 360.
Where's TeeCakes to spin how great it is selling one console for every three that MS sold? TEECAAAAAKES! I want so badly to enjoy some spin. PLEASE!
But don't you see, Johan? This can only mean that sales in Europe have exploded! They must have, or all those winning statistics would be wrong. The more MS wins here, the more Sony wins in Europe.
Plus, the PS3 is much more expensive in Europe than the 360 is inexpensive in North America, therefore it is actually still the leader. Only the leader can command top dollar and still outsell the competition by factors of 12 to 1, and we all know that the 12 to 1 is a hard fact directly related to the universal gravitational constant. You don't want to be crushed by more gravity, do you?
