Get a preview of Gears of War: Judgment, the most intense Gears game yet, straight from the mouth of Lt. Damon Baird. Gears of War: Judgment releases in North America March 19 2013.
Even though I like the Gears stuff in general I was never a big fan of Baird. Some of the stuff looks interesting, like the defensive sections and the smart spawning thing.
I just hate the direction they took in all of this. I mean, they brought back enemies that they didn't see or witness until later in the game and this is supposed to be a prequel.
They never witnessed a Kantas until Gears 2 when they were in the underground, but apparently they have. So why the shock of finding them in Gears 2. Sends so many red flags, but you know what, who cares. I never had a bad experience in a gears game, and if they have the core gameplay aspect the same, I am in.

It just cracks me up that they say that everyone was asking for a Baird story, and everyone I run across talking about this game is like, no no we weren't. I can take Baird in small doses but a full game dedicated to him is way too much.

As for Baird, he is the Jack Black of that universe. Sometimes hilarious as a supporting actor (eg., High Fidelity), but never made to hold the leading part.
And Saint, you are absolutely correct as regards red flags. The dev is throwing out all continuity for the sake of action. No doubt. I certainly won't be buying this thing new. But I won't say that I will never play it. Loved the campaigns of the first two games.
